Hi everyone,
I have recently noticed that when I read I tend to turn over the cards too quickly and do not concentrate and ponder enough on each card so that my readings never seem to reach any depth. I am simply so impatient to see what the next card is and when they all lie open in front of me I feel too overwhelmed to try to make sense of the total picture.
Does anyone else experience this? (I should add that I am generally very impatient, not just with Tarot, and it is driving me mad.)

Impatience can certainly be a problem when reading Tarot, I'm sure. But I don't think you should be bothered by the fact that you want to see the next card. Personally I think the deepest truth lies in how the cards relate to each other, if you feel you have to read just one card at the time you may miss out on this dimension altogether.
I can also see how a whole Celtic Cross-spread for instance would seem overwhelming, especially if you're used to reading one card at the time. But perhaps you could start out with smaller spreads trying this technique? Start with a simple 3-card spread, and see how much you can get from reading their relations to each others.
You don't even have to assign meanings to the positions, just ask the cards to tell you what you need to know, deal three cards and read them! It's tricky at first, but it's kind of fun, I've learned TONS that way!
Good luck!
Light and love,
Jenny :)

I now how you feel, Soraya! I'm forever impatient. I don't see this as a problem for tarot reading. I usually turn over all the cards at once and look at it. I get out my surface thoughts and once that's done, I'll give more detail. If the reading's for yourself and you feel that you're not getting enough due to impatience, then keeping a tarot journal can be a BIG help. That way, you can go back to your readings and get more depth once the initial "blush" has worn off.

You might want to try a new spread that starts with all of the cards face up and allows you to look everything over before you start talking. That could be a style of reading that better suits you and allows you to focus on the broader picture as well as each individual card.

i can relate to your dilemma, soraya...
i have found that writing the readings down forces me to be more attentive to each card.
also, choosing just one symbol or key word within each card that connects all the cards will help you achieve more depth. this is easier with smaller spreads at first, then you will find yourself doing it quite naturally. thinking this way will slow you down at least a bit, hopefully.

That is what I usually (not always) do. I need to whole picture to get a more accurate answer.
