More confused than ever!

Ok, i had a question that has been bothering me for sometime now! So, i decided to take it upon my self to make a spread and do a reading.
The question i really wanted to answer was, why do my friends seem to leave me out of their activities, but instead i just made a general friends spread.
The problem is when i tried to read the cards it seemed like i was worse off even before i started tarot. i was all confused and couldn't related ne of the cards! There were too many possibilities and i was just overwhelmed, so i wrote the spread down and decided to look at it later.
Has this ever happened to ne one else. and howd u get out of it?
Could it be i was just trying too hard? ne input would help!!!

How many cards did the spread use? I often find that four, three or even two cards can be better than ten or more. Sometimes less is more... :)

it does happen, and myself, as a "newbie", have experienced it quite alot...

only today i overcame a block that lasted several days... in those days, not only that i couldnt find a connection between tha cards and make a fair interpretation - i could hardl look at them, my mind kept getting off track and i kept looking away from the cards, instinctively, instead of concetrating on them.

i just gathered the cards and put them away, there's no point to insist if in a certain moment you dont feel connected to the cards... try again later. also try to make the enviroment calmer, even put a candle or a glass of water near by, it helps (helped me atleast).

but since you've written down the spread, you can also post it in "your readings" and get some interpretations from other users.

so yes, it happens... but its temporary :)
GL in the nex times.

the spread had 7 cards in it, i got the past and present interpreted pretty good... but everything else was kinda hard. After a few days of rest i'll prob look over it again, with the help of thirteens tarot basics. i just discovered those. so i'll read over those and see wat i can do. I want to try to interpret it first before i post it for others. I have relied on the help of these boards too much. and have gotten lazy, so when i am hit with a challenge i don't even try, but now i am determined to do it myself first, or at least try!

Sometimes when we do a spread with a different question on our minds the spread will address that hidden question instead of what we voiced aloud. In this case the question you REALLY wanted to ask was more specific. "Why do they seem to leave you out"

Have you tried to inturpret it for that question instead of the genral friends spread?

One of the things that used to plague me is that I relied too much on the book meaning of the card, instead of what it meant in a particular position in a spread.

For instance... if you get the 10 of Wands in the #8 position (what others think/how others influence you) of a Celtic Cross you would think... I'm taking on too much responsibility or I'm feeling overloaded. That may not be true. But perhaps others see you that way... maybe they see you as a work-a-holic. See what I mean?

Make sure you're thinking of the position meaning as well as the card's meaning when you try to interpret... and always write it down. Take a look later, when you don't feel so drained and frustrated.

And remember, even more experienced readers still ask for help!

When I'm confused about a spread, I write it down in ink, then with pencil I write down things around it what springs to mind (about the spread in general or one card). If I can't grasp the meaning I just start with things like: how many wands, how many cups, how many majors in the spread. I write what I guess it could mean with ?? if I'm not sure (and hope I can later erase the ?). I let it rest a while, later on you may think of something that makes it all clear. You could also try drawing an explanatory card to the cards that seem to make no sense.
I also heard people laid down the same spread with a different deck, that might make things clearer as well but I haven't tried it myself yet.

This is one of the reasons I don't usually do spreads for myself ;)

On top of all else, you just might be too close to the question to see the answer. For something like this, ask someone else to read your cards. You already had too many worries and possiblities running around in your head when you started, the cards just brought them all to the surface. You need an objective reader.
