((in dedication to Jema's marvelous insight that joy is as important to tarot readers as suffering))
I get a thrill when I look through my magickal journal and see that every day, I've done ritual, recorded important events and feelings and realizations, written down esoteric notes- and loyally studied tarot.
I smile as I see how much the readings I have done and had done for me by another reader have helped my Self-healing process.
I shake my head when I see several decks sprawled around my room and promise to lovingly put them all away and tidy up today.
But at least the mess in my bedroom is tarot/esoterica mess! Hee hee.
I think about how much joy and happiness AT brings me every day, how much I have learned here, and how I am a better and more knowledgeable person with more friends because of it.
That's some of my tarot joy- let's here yours!

just one thing for now that brings me joy.
that when i work with my tarot decks or my books i feel joy cause i am giving myself that time and attention. i nurture myself when otherwise i would watch TV or clean the bathroom.
joy is that i give myself that gift of time, that i think i am worth it.

My Joy of Tarot is knowing that, while enjoying myself with all these beautiful decks, I'm also learning a lot about myself and developing myself.
Just last week, I looked through all my readings from the past few months on a specific area in my life, and I noticed how much progress I have made in this relatively short time. And all of this with hardly any effort at all, at least that's how it feels to me. ;)

What a cool title!
If Aeclectic ever needs to be renamed or someone collects people's stories for a book, this would be a blockbuster title.
Tarot cards and oracle decks are so wonderful for self-study. If I find myself at loose ends, my deck of the week provides key insights and a sense of comfort and individual learning.
And I enjoy browsing here.
Best wishes,
Mari H.

Well thank god/dess I'm not the only one with the periodic tarot frat-house effect!
Tarot joy for me is the appreciation of the artwork & symbolism of the many decks , the excitement of discovery, and the transcendent feeling of connection to higher guidance .

Tarot joy is looking at the rich history, variety, and evolution of tarot, and realizing that it is so much more than simply a "pack of cards." To see a subject embraced by so many from an endless variety of cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs... to find so many who are moved to express their own world-view through its medium and contribute to its development... this, more than anything, gives hope that perhaps that we can celebrate our diversity while still knowing that underneath it all, we are one people, with more in common that binds us together than the differences that separate us.
Just my two cents worth.

The Tarot is soft and careful in the way it works with us. The message is usually relevant but somehow one is encouraged to look at it in the balanced and positive way.
The visual messages the cards give are often stunningly beautiful and effective. The cards themselves are really nice to handle so the whole experience is sensory/tactile as well as psychological.
There is also a great group of people here and I visit each day to enjoy and learn from the posts. I feel as though I belong to this particular community.
The whole experience is joyful! Nice way of looking at it.

the joy of tarot is also when you open up a new pack of cards and suddenly see a card from a totally new angle and you sit down and take it a bit further and end up seeing yourself in a totally new way.
oh and simple pleasures - the smokey perfumed scent of my aquarian deck and me sitting and fantisising about everything it has been through in san fransisco in the 70:ies.

is what you feel when something just "klicks" and reminds you time and time again that there's more to life than what the eye can see.
is what you experience every time another piece of your personal journey towards enlightment falls into place.
is the knowledge that you are part of something greater, both in living life and in working with the tarot to further what it means.
is the realization that you are truly fulfilling part of your own destiny every time you work with cards.
Oh heck - I'm turning into the friendly neighbourhood priest here.

The joy of tarot:
Talking tarot with all of you,
sniffing at a new deck,
seeing a brand new deck in my fav book shop (and knowing that it will soon be mine),
fetching the mail and expecting to find another deck (or two or three or more) in it,
getting that special thrill when you learn something new.

The joy of Tarot to me is the journey it embarked me on. Through the tarot I found not only my true spirituality but inner peace. The joy of tarot is the quest for knowledge it can instigate in those of us that are inclined to dig deeper ... The joy of tarot is that it is and can be anything to anybody ... you have a personal choice.

Today, amidst such horrid things I am having to endure, I did a five Rune spread for myself…
Outcome – Wunjo
Ah yes, sometimes it is worth it. I really am glad you all are out there – I am really glad we are all different.

The JOY that I get from the tarot is that I get so much more out of it than i ever thought possible. It has become such a wonderful gift for me, and I think that I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to experience the tarot and what it gives to me and to others.

When I do a spread, and suddenly, the meaning just kind of flows out.
When I look through a new deck for the first time, and am enthralled by all the images.
When I come here, and hang out with people who suffer from the same obsession, and although our methods, ideas and purposes may differ, understand why I am so fascinated by decks of cards.

for me, tarot is my life. Its the history, the feeling that down through the centuries untold numbers have sat like i sit, read like i read. Its endless, mysterious, comforting, and always there for you like a second shadow.....even when you ARE cleaning the bog!

for me is that it gives me a different perspecitve of looking at my life and the situations that I encounter. If I didn't look at my life from a different perspective from time to time, I would never have seen the things that I needed to see at that particular moment (in order for me to grow further).
The tarot helps me in many ways and that for me is a great joy on it's own, because if I didn't learn about myself then for me there would be no joy at all.........
........for me the biggest joy in life is.......living it :D

i love how INFINITE tarot is--there's always something more, something new to learn from it.
:)
i also love how it opened up this doorway of aecclectic, where i have met such a fantastic mosaic of individuals.
:)
i derive my greatest joy from tarot when i share it. when, after i have shared the topic with friends or family, each person has continued to enjoy it with there own decks i have gifted. that is a wonderful feeling, to share something that has given me joy, and to see that gift flourish and continue the joy.
:)
