..the original thread about this was posted in the Chat section (as I recall), and had a link in it to a website where you could answer some questions and it came up with a major arcana card that suited your answers. Anyone remember that?
Well, despite the fact it was just for fun, several of us were surprised by the resulting card. I know I was. I was hoping for the High Priestess and got the Magician.
This got me wondering. I haven't had the Magician come up in my readings very often, so I hadn't really had any opportunity to delve into it's deeper meanings.
Last night I was reading "78 DW" (I'd bought and then promptly avoided this book a few months ago.....) and got to the chapter where Rachel Pollock compares the Magician to the HP, and I got it!
Soooo....has anyone had this experience (either from this test or some other situation)? Thought you were one card, got another, and upon further reflection/study finally recognized why? What card was it you got and what card did you think you should have got - or wanted?
For me, it finally clicked when I read the Magician was action oriented. I am certainly that. And it made some sense that I might have wanted the HP - because while I am intuitive, I'm not a deep thinker. So, I strive for the balance....

I didn't do that "test" - but had another tarotist do a few readings about my own nature, and got Queen of Cups as a key card ... instead of the Prince (in the THoth-deck) of cups I always got or chose for myself.
After some consideration, I accepted it as an evolution of my own senses and abilities ... in that I no longer feel the need to exteriorize my emotions and spiritual beliefs, but have a more internal and restfull handle on them.
It also seems logical to have multiple facets of some aspect in your own nature ... so several cards can "fit" you in several circumstances, no ?

but u have to think, who actually makes these tests, and why... and how much do they actually know... I think its a bunch of scientist who couldn't make it in biology who have no time... and tehy really have ntohing to do with tarot! so u really can't trust these tests. i say go with wat u feel. isn't that wat everyone on this board tells us???

I think there are not enough questions on that test, but most of all: don't you have that with multiple choice, you're always in between two answers ?
First time I did the test I was the fool, when I switched two answers I had doubts about I got the high priestess.
So I'm a high fool or a foolish priestess ;)
But the test worked for you amyel: it made you think about the magician, so you learnt from it. Just don't put too much importance on these tests.

i agree with wolf, there aren't enough questions on that test.
i also expected to be high priestess, amyel, and also got the magician. i took the test again just to be sure, and got magician. so many people got the HP, so i kept taking the test to see what question made you the HP or not.
i found that your response to one question would make you either the hp or not, the magician or not, the hermit or not, etc.
the HP key answer seemed to be introvert instead of extrovert.
i forget what the others were, but it seemed being a particular card hinged on how you answered a chosen question, not on your overall views.
i think more questions were needed, but still, i wasn't surprised at all to find myself the Magician.

I did the test and i was the ONLY odd one out. My card was" The Lovers" no one else got this card!
but i haven't taken too much notice of it on how is for me, but i fully expected the High Priestess as that what my soul's life purpose for this life.LOL :)

let me add that i got my husband to take the test and he, much to his dismay, got the Empress. he doesn't know much about tarot but puts up, nicely, with my interest in it. he is a very creative, nurturing kind of guy and the Emprsess honestly suits him in that way, but he is still a little hung up about drawing a female card.
