Caesar - don't be troubled by this. Many people read Tarot cards for themselves.
It is proper to read the cards for yourself if that is what you wish.

One of the biggest selling Tarot books is called 'Tarot For Yourself ' - so no, you don't need a querent and you could read for yourself alone and never read for anyone else - its your choice.
Enjoy Tarot and don't worry.

Caesar -
My favorite person to read for is ME! It's great practice and I keep learning more things about myself...

Caesar: Welcome!
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I understand you differently. That is, I understand you to not refer to self readings, but to refer to reading for others. That you read *without* the physical presence of a querent; that *you* shuffle the cards; & that contrary to what is stated in books, your readings are accurate.
The absence of a querent &/or shuffling for same need not hinder a reading or affect its accuracy. The accuracy may depend on a number of variables, but the primary one is the reader's intuition & logic.

I understood you the same way as Meewah did, Caesar. (Welcome to the forums by the way! And your English is very good! I wish I could speak a second language!)
I often do readings for a querent who is not present at the time. It is sometimes a little difficult when actually reading each card, because you cannot get feedback for the querent at the time. For instance, often when I get a Court Card in a reading, I will ask the querent if this is a person in their life, or if it is an attitude/situation, as it is often difficult to tell something like that as a reader. But without the querent there, they cannot tell me, so I can find it a bit tricky.
But otherwise, I hav not come upon any obstcles. I found that as long as you make sure yoursubconscious knows that he reading is not for you but somebody else, you should be okay. I usually state to myself very clearly when I am shuffling the deck who the reading is for, so that I don't end up doing a reading for myself by mistake!
I hope this helps!

i agree with everything said here.
reading for yourself is excellent.
reading for people when they are not there, with their permission is also great!

i also frequently read for people who are not present, and have had good results. i don't think you have anything to fear!
maybe the authors mention this becasue they don't want readers to expect this from themselves so they don't get discouraged if it doesn't work for them.
sorry, badly worded sentence, hope you know what i mean.
but i also agree with kiama. i find that i almost HAVE to do a reading for myself before i do any readings for others so my issues don't get intermixed in the reading.
glad to see you here at AT!
