Have any of you ever been to (or plan to attend) the Body-Mind-Spirit festival held in Detroit and sponsered by PhenomNews? This year the event will be on Sept. 28th in Warren, Mich. at Macomb Community College. I've never been to a "New Age" festival/event like this and thought it sounded interesting. Any advice?

I still haven't made up my mind if I'm going, but if I do I'll be sure to let all of you know how it was! :) It's about a 3 hour drive from where I am, but it sounded like so much fun.

Hi everyone,
Just digging up this old post to let you know about the Body-Mind-Spirit festival in Detroit last weekend.
My husband and I went for a few hours and, wow, what a mind-opening experience. I had never been to an event like this and it was really amazing. There were 100's of vendors there selling everything from art work, tarot decks, crystal balls to gemstones, rugs, clothing and jewelry (lots of jewelry!). There were body workers doing massage, etc. There were probably around 40-50 readers doing cards, palm, numerology, etc. There were several lectures and main stage shows you could attend and participate in. One that we went to was on handwriting analysis. Very Fascinating! The speaker gave free handwriting mini-analysis's at his booth afterwards and he really 'hit the nail on the head' with my personality and behavior in just a few little brief comments. Absolutely amazing!
I also had my very first "professional" (i.e. paid) tarot card reading done during the festival. I had a very hard time deciding who to go to - so many choices! One lady who was doing psychic readings watched me walking around and smiled at me and said something like: "just let your grandma who has passed over be your guide... she has always been with you, watching over you and will help you make the right decision." My confused response was that I'd never met my grandma who has passed over (my mom's mother died when my mom was young) the lady said "that doesn't matter... she's always been there with you." No offense intended toward anyone here who believe in spirits watching over us... but that gave me the creeps! I guess (mostly) because that information was unsolicited on my part.
Anyway, I finally narrowed it down and then chose this very pleasant, happy looking man. What a let-down. Now, this could be because it was at a busy, noisy festival, it could be that I got a reader who just wasn't right for me, or maybe I was just expecting too much... but I was disappointed. The few readings I've had here on Acelectic have been so much better! This man kept making comments that were so vague, so general that it just seemed like he didn't have a clue. And I had a great deal of trouble trying to fit what he was saying into my life at all... it just didn't make sense. Almost like he was doing a reading for someone else entirely! I'm glad I had the experience to see how someone else reads cards and to watch and learn... but as far as getting helpful info. from the reading? Very little.
So, that's my experience! I'm truly glad I went because it was a terrific experience overall to see so many people gathered with open minds and open hearts. Very enlightening and heart warming.
