This is something that recently occured to me to ask... have you ever tried reading when you were say, injured, or fighting a nasty bug etc? What were your experiences?

I have to admit that I was also reading when I was in hospital and my readings were still accurate but I do not recommend doing this.

Sunday night I was on a bus ride home from my vacation. The 9 people who went on the trip had formed a small bond. I was so exhausted!!! Physically, mentally, emotionally. It was late and getting dark and I decided to pull out my cards to help me relax and meditate. I was hoping to just shuffle them, cleanse them, just kind of unwind with them in my hands.
The person across from me instantly *voluntered* herself for a reading. I ended up doing 6 readings on the bus. They were all very accurate. But when I was done I was feeling very physically ill. (I have never suffered motion sickness from riding in a car, bus, plane, train...) I was also so incredibly exhausted I could barely sit up straight. I actually had to say that I could do no more readings I was too tired. When everyone went back to their seats I turned off my light and struggled not to vomit.
I learned that I can do a reading when I am feeling horrible. But it is just too much of a drain on me.

I guess you could say that when you're physically hurt in some way, your body is channelling its resources towards healing. Perhaps reading diverts some of those resources, even if it is psychic energy. I know when I was little, I used to try to utilize my mind to speed up the healing process when I had a cold or something similar.

I have really bad allergy problems that tend to come out when the weather is changing (ah fall!). For most of the fall and spring, I am in bad shape with my sinuses. If I couldn't read while I was feeling bad, then I would never get any readings done at all. I don't find that it affects me too much. In fact, since my allergy meds make me a little loopy, I'm sometimes even more intuitive because I don't feel silly saying what I really think. However, some days when I feel really bad I know that I wouldn't have the strength to read.

i don't feel well today, so will likely not do any readings.
but i have done readings when i was ill, and like others here, was still very accurate. i don't think the illness affects my ability to read, so much as my energy...can i do the whole reading? do i really want to sit up?

I read when I'm feeling well or on the close side to well. Otherwise, its too easy to get distracted or just not have the right concentration. It also depends on what specifically is wrong with me.

I prefer not to do readings when I am not up to par, but I have done them on occasion according to the need, such as an emergency. Reading on such occasions are still accurate but very draining energy-wise so I do not recommend it.
I was ill with a severe respiratory infection several years ago that left me in bed. I could not handle reading a book nor the telly so decided to play with my old faithful RSW. I did a wee throw & to my horror, *all* of the cards were reversed! I saw this as nigh impossible since I shuffle upright, but I immediately understood the message to be "NOT!!" Had to settle for sleep.

Thanks again for the replies. My experience has been somewhat similar. I've recently caught a slight cold and while I didn't feel tired during the reading, I didn't feel that deep connection either. Granted, I hesitate to identify the cold as the cause for my lack of focus; lots of annoying paperwork/bureaucratic crap flying my way lately, which stresses me out (probably why I caught the bug in the first place!).

I tend not to read when I am sick.... I find that I can not concentrate fully when I'm distracted by coughing and sneezing and the whole nine yards... Smoking doesn't help either.. but it's my habit... LOL.... I use a lot of energy when I read, which is why I don't do it that much and if I'm reading for myself I write down what cards I pulled and their meanings, do a quick connection and put it down, I pick up my book the next day and dive further into the reading... It is just a way not to spend so much energy doing one thing

I guess I am the opposie way roun to everybody else so far... :( I read whenever, basically, as long as I am awake enough. I uually am awake when I am ill, and I often find that oing some readings for myself and others takes my mind of things, and actually makes me feel alot etter. Sometimes just getting my decks out and flipping through looking at the artwork also helps me feel better.
