Hi there,
I'm going to the UK next month and would like to check out some Tarot stores there. I am sure they are much better than the ones over here.
Can anyone recommend any places in Central London?
Thanks

I don't live in London, but I visit there 2-3 times a year for work. There are 3 excellent stores all within walking distance of Liecester Square that I can recommend.
The best one is Mysteries Bookstore. It is located at 9 Monmouth Street in Covent Garden. It can be a bit tricky to find as the streets of Covent Garden are all at weird angles and don't always go through as you would expect them to. From Leicester Square, go north one block to Shaftsbury and then go right. About 4 or 5 blocks you will come to a street at a very sharp backwards angle. This is Monmouth... the bookstore is halfway down the block on the left. They have a very large choice of decks and lots of books. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (unfortunately, they don't have sample decks for all of the decks they carry, so you might want to know in advance which decks you want).
Another decent place is Atlantis Book Shop which is located at 49a Museum Street, a half a block south of the British Museum. This is a small store, but they carry a lot of obscure and out of print books. Their decks are not out in plain view, so you will need to ask. They have a decent selection and carry some out of print decks.
Going south from Leicester Square, you can make a left into a very narrow alley called Cecil Court (1 or 2 blocks south of the Leicester Square tube station). Halfway down the alley on the right is Watkins Books which also is a great source for out of print books. Their Tarot decks are downstairs. They're not nearly as friendly as the folks at Mysteries, but they do have a pretty decent selection.
Many of the used bookstores along Charing Cross Road also carry Tarot decks as well. And there are two stores in Chelsea on Kings Road that also carry a good selection: Wilde Ones and Dillons Books.
I also recommend going through the Camden Locks Market in Camden Town on the weekend. There are several booths that sell Tarot cards and at least 2 of them are designing their own decks. Plus the market is a whole lot of fun! Hundreds of temporary and permanent merchants in a very fun atmosphere.

Oh yes, and while you're in the Charing Cross area, there are some wonderful restaurants!
Close to Mysteries Bookstore is Belgo Centraal which is a wonderful and very popular Belgian Restaurant.
My absolute favorite restaurant in London is a Spanish Tapas restaurant called La Tasca. It is on Maiden Lane one block north of the Strand and about 2 blocks southwest of the Covent Garden marketplace. The food is outstanding and it's amazingly inexpensive.
If you like spicy asian food, there is an Indonesian restaurant called Bali Bali that is on Shaftsbury. You'll pass right by it if you follow my directions to Mysteries Bookstore. It's fabulous!

Thanks a bunch, Mojo. This all sounds wonderful. I am looking forward to browsing through the stores and filling up in the Spanish place, if I find it. I adore tapas.
Cheers
