I would say that I've more that just one card that I like from each suit but just to make life easier I just chose one card.
I would like to know your favourites
Mine:
The Queen of Cups
The Knight of Coins
9 of Swords
4 of Wands

Hee hee, these 'pick your favourite' threads are getting more and more creative. I just like the aces, above most others, I think. Is that too simple? I also love the 8 of swords :T8S but I couldn't tell you why. It feeds my dark side, I think. ;)
I love these smilies!
:TAP :TAC :TAW :TAS
Oh, and, if I can add a question to the one above, am I the only one who does not consider the 'correct' order of the suits to be :WL :CL :SL :OL ? I mean, what order do you put them in when you put your decks back in order? I always put them :OL :CL :WL :SL because of their correspondances to the first four chackra's, but I'm starting to believe I'm a bit weird in this.

Interesting discussion thread. Only problem is that it does sometimes depend on the deck...but if going by meaning or something like that....wow. Pick just one of each suit? Don't know if I can.
Frankly, I like the aces. They're so energetic and exciting and often, in decks, very beautiful, the symbol just hanging there, the beginning of something new.
Going beyond the aces however, I'd have to say my faves of each suit are really...
6/S: Six of Swords, for certain. That card just makes sense to me and it's often beautifully designed with boats sailing from shore to shore and such. Though I do have an odd fondness for the eight (just an interesting delemma there) and nine (nightmare card is often very cool if frightening). And I've always found Q/S--the queen, interesting as well.
8/C: Eight of Cups--the idea of leaving all you love behind to follow a dream. Wow. Touching, sad, intreguing, powerful. Though it is hard to resist that 9/C ;) Also like very much the Q/C. She's one of my favorites.
4/W: Four of Wands--Wands are hard to decide on. But I always find myself attracted to this card--the foundation of a thing established, the promise of something to build on, etc. Also P/W--my favorite page is the page of wands, who's off on a journey of discovery and learning--the energetic student/wanderer card.
Pentacles. Now those are hard. Hmmmm.
3/P: I think the craftsman at work appeals most to me. And Knight. Pentacles has my favorite Knight.

This really was harder than I though it would be.
2 swords
7 pentacles, but I also like the Knight
Queen Wands
3 cups (this one i didn't really have a very fav, had to pick one)
I'll have to go back and re-read everyones and see if perhaps it doesn't give a look into what they value personally... :)

I am with Thirteen in regards to it depending a lot on the deck. Since I voted for the Cosmic Tribe as my favorite deck I will answer the question of favorite cards based on this deck:
7 of Cups
Prince of Disks (although the 4 of disks - a card I don't like in most decks - was a close runner up)
Princess of Wands
8 of Swords
For card images here is the url http://www.stevee.com/pages/t.fs.html
These are in no specific order.

I would agree with those that say it depends on the deck. For my Russian/St. Petersburg Deck:
10 of cups
9 of swords (the 9 swords poised over the weeping woman as if they're all about to be driven into her is a really powerful image for me)
Queen of Clubs
Page of coins
For my Arthurian Legends Deck:
I love all the pages - they're depicted as animals :)
For my Haindl deck:
Father of cups in the north (Odin)
Mother of Swords in the east (Nut)
Ace of Stones in the west
Ace of Wands in the South

willie--
as to your question of order of the suits:
i tend to order them however the creator has seen fit-- the order in the lwb or book that goes with the deck. my own preference-- since i am mainly kabbalah-oriented-- is wand, cup, sword, pentacle.
as to favorite cards:
first and foremost is the queen of cups. my reaction to her seems to determine how i'll get along with a deck.
two of swords-- especially from the robin wood deck
eight of wands-- from the cosmic tarot
seven of penticles-- a mystery card. rider and clones see it as a positive card; thoth and clones see it as negative
thanks for the exercise

8 of wands . cause i like speed and the promise of communicactions
7 of swords - sometimes a person has to get out there and claim what is theirs
3 of cups
9 of pentacles
but for the courts it would be:
queen of wands
king of swords
page of cups
knight of pentacles
yeah, i cheated of chose 8 cards instead of just 4. couldn't help myself:)

When talking the regular deck (Rider waite) into consideration then its definatly the Aces.
So simple in design yet very complex when it comes to their true meaning. Sure, its an ace.. but what else is there to it? A lot. For example, the :TAC: Look at it (not the icon you silly :D), you will see a hand holding a cup. And then so much else, if you look hard and close enough (or; if you have the patience to study it). I guess thats also what really appeals to me. People who glimpse at the card see the rough meaning, people who take their time on the other hand....

You didn't say if it was based on art or meaning and that messes around with any statistics or trends you might be looking for.
As to suits order? There can be 24 ways to look at it. I think I've seen at least half used at one time or another over the years. So I just start with what ever suit comes up first.

williehewes, you make me laugh :D
I always think of the suits in this order: Swords, Wands, Cups, Pentacles. But I think that's because my first couple of decks were ordered like that and I studied the cards in order. Swords would be first, regardless; it's my "favorite" suit...
6 of Swords... it's surprising and neat to see that I'm not alone in this
9 of Wands (though I'm real fond of that Queen)
Page of Cups. The idea of the initial, primal outpouring of emotion is so enchanting.
7 of Pentacles, wich actually gives me a lot of peace when I see it, because it says, "What you see is what you get. You don't have to tinker with anything in front of you; just take it and use it!"

Odd - mentally I always put them in the order of Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles too. I like..
9 of Swords
2 of Cups (or 9!)
9 of Wands
9 of Pentacles
:) what can I say...numerologically it's a good number for me and I like the meanings of these cards...so true to life.
