I am so excited... After joining the Uni Pagan Society a few weeks ago, I am holding my first Tarot workshop for the society on Monday. I should have a group of around 20-25 members. The first workshop is basically an intro to the world of Tarot, and intuitive reading. It's onna include a bit of history, decks, superstition bashing, making up your own spread, reading intuitively, getting the querent involved in the reading, etc... Basically it'll cover all the questions most beginner ask. I won't be going into any meanings for the cards cuz I prefer using th eintuitive method, and if any of the members wanna learn the meanings of the cards and memorise them, there are plenty of books out there for them! There's also another guy doing a couple of workshops, and he is doing it from a Cabalistic viewpoint. Although if he insists one more time that Tarot has it's origins in Cabala, I will seriously cry. :(
I am doing a few more workshops in the near future about other uses of Tarot, eg- Meditations, entering the cards, fun with Tarot, etc... Hopefully one on deck creation aswell.
Wish me luck!!!

Well, I am a Gemini Rising which helps because it basically means I can talk and talk and talk... But you guys all knew that anyway! ;)
It's less than 12 hours til the big event... I'm am soooo nervous!
The funny thing was, I met up with the other Tarot guy in my fave club the other night, and we were talking about the workshops, and he was boasting that he had 7 Tarot decks. I couldn't resist it, and told him about my 97 decks... }) Me and him get on quite well, and I think it's usrful that we do Tarot from two totally diferent appraoches (Him Qabalah, me 'other!') It means that the people who go to the workshops can get all sides of the story.

Hi Kiama,
This is wonderful news. Your very own workshop! Good for you.
I am a bit envious of the students. I have learned so much from your posts and I wish I could be in class to absorb some more of you wisdom. You prove that youth has it's own bounty of knowledge to share.
Much happiness in your new venture. You're going to do great.
Blessings................Moose

This is really good news! :)
I wonder if you ever considered doing a workshop here on Aeclectic? I know there's an audience. })

The workshop went amazingly brilliantly! I had not expected it to go so well! At first I was dead nervous to the point of having to sit down to talk cuz I was shaking so much (Anybody who read my Social Phobia posts will know why I am like this) ... But as the workshop went on, I gradually got more confident, and according to the President of the Pagan society who was in the class, I was 'dynamic'! :D:D:D:D
The people in the group really got into it, (It was quite interactive) and when I asked for volunteers I had lots of people offer. There were beginers in the class who said they learned so much and were inspired to delve deeper into Tarot. There were more advanced readers who said they really enjoyed my approach and they learned lots too. People came up to me afterwards and thanked me, telling me how much they had learned. To me, knowing that I helped people learn was th ehugest compliment I could have been given. :D
The society asked me to do my next workshop this Monday. I can't wait! Now I know I can do it no problems, I will not be so nervous this time.
I phoned my parents who were really proud of me. My Dad is a First Aid and Manual Handling trainer, and when he was training to become that, he would take me along to the classes, so I learned everything he learned about how to teach people and how to engage their interest... He was immensely proud that I was able to put what I had learned with him into practice. As I have said before, one of the things that makes me happy and full of life is knowing that my parents are proud of me. Before I left home for the first time in September, my Dad and I became very close, and I promised him I would make him proud again real soon. I always keep my promises! ;)
The next workshop is about using Fun, and meditation for understanding the meanings of the cards.

I must admit I am not all that surprised that your workshop was a success... ;) But I am so pleased for you, it sounds like you got a lot out of it yourself while teaching others. Your exuberance makes me happy. :*

I'm on a bit of a high now after that! Sadly though, the Treasuere of the Society emailed me last night saying they cannot get a room booked in the Uni for that night cuz all are taken up, so it'll have to be the Monday after that... :( Suppose it gives me more time to plan it though!
