'Lo all,
This thing between me and Truthsayer has gone too far.
Once upon a time, when Aeclectic was closed and it was late at night and the dust blew down the midway and the canvass flapped in the wind, Truth and I duked it out.
Her best punch was a killer left jab. I bided my chances and trusted my right hook to the kidney.
Friends, let us draw a curtain over the combat in progress.

"when Aeclectic was closed?" Dude, don't frighten me. I need this outpost on the information county road, because I am back on the wagon and hooked, alright? :D

'Lo all,
There is a big difference between being obscure and being clever.
Let me explain the hasty post above.
I admire Truthsayer. Sincerely. And, I might have exaggerated a teeny tiny little bit about the fight. Aeclectic never closes.
I admire people who are liberal instead of conservative. (Please, no political thoughts here. Gives me a headache just to think about.) People who are open to fresh ideas, who want to read every book in the library, who are willing (at least in their imagination) to throw an extra pair of socks into a pack and mosey off to the remotest corner of the world, people who see a blank spot on a map (geographical or intellectual) as a challenge or an opportunity, people . . .
Well, you get the idea.
Come on, this IS about Tarot.
You see, Truthsayer has labeled me a fundamentalist. (Argggh!) And I can duck and dodge, boost and bluster, but I can't deny it.
My definition of what is a "real" Tarot deck is absurdly fundamentalist. I've read some Tarot books, and hope to read a lot more, but, if asked to name my favorites, the response would be, "Oh, yeah. Ho hum. No surprises here."
And decks! After more than 20 years, I have five (5!) Tarot decks. Two retired, one reading deck, one I'm slowly coloring, and one collector's deck. (I don't even want to talk about Deck X, which I managed to give away.)
Truthsayer is a bold Tarot adventurer. I am -- oh nuts! -- a Tarot stuffed shirt.
I love the "location" Qolus has. (Please, nobody translate it for me; probably something as mundane as the corner of Third and Main. But, to me, it has a fairy tale sound. I also love her keen-witted commentary, and always look for it.)
When I grow up -- a dubious proposition, I know -- I want to be Kiama.

are you *sure* you don't want it translated? because eventually you'll stumble upon the meaning anyway and you'll think "criminy, I wasted all that romanticism on *that?*"
thank you for the nice words. (preening) :)
I envy tarot "fundies" like yourself. when I think of all the money you're saving... (sigh) And it probably is much easier to feel connected to the decks you do have.

talisman,
i've been anxiously watching the boards the last few days-watching and wondering if you would take the bait...and you did!! i'm so happy you didn't let me down. :) the alaskan wilderness has only sharpened your acerbic wit. you remain uncorrupted by my liberal tarot wantonness.
about that fight, i don't really remember how that came out...maybe i'd be better off not knowing. maybe that kidney punch knocked me out. hhhhmmmmmmm... just so you are warned, i have learned new tarot kwan-do moves...i have named it the celtic cross from HELL!!!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
believe me, caped conservative, you don't want to know. how do you want to finish this quarrel? what weapon? i suggest flinging insults and witticisms to amuse others across the web. i'll choose faunabay as my second and you sir talisman?
**************************************************
so who are you dressing up like this halloween (or is it samhain)? ** i think i'll go as the devil's advocate.
** an unknown entity suggests you'll go as jerry fall well but i know you'd never stoop that low. ;) })

Ah well, *sigh* If my wise friend Faunabay is your second, I suppose I'll stand for my friend Talisman as well.
We all know without question that you're both a pair of frauds... but what the hell, we're all a bunch of frauds if it comes down to it. ;)
None of us is that far apart if you really think about it.
I'm sorry I must insist we stop the adolescent bickering and get down to the business at hand which is how we're going to manage to keep this community alive. })

| Major Tom sez: ...but what the hell, we're all a bunch of frauds if it comes down to it. I'd like to be front and center in the Fraud's Peanut Gallery, please! I'm here to taunt and abuse the participants! Mwahahahaha!
Is heckling allowed at a Tarot Duel? })
"Hey, Talisman! Your Empress wears army boots!"
"Yo, Truthsayer! Your Devil is so low he can play raquetball against a curb!"
Let the insult-flinging and witticisms begin!
Peace,
Melvis
