HELP ! Esoteric shops in Newark ?

Hi American fellows, can any of you help me ? DH on business trip in Newark (is it New Jersey ?) and promised to buy me some tarot decks but he doesn't know where to go shopping for this kind of items !!! --- Hey come on, don't be laugh at us, we are from Finland where there are altogether 5 million inhabitants and three esoteric shops .... :D Can you recommend any good bookshop or esoteric shop in Newark area where to get the hottest decks from ?? I would be eternally grateful ! ;) Kissa

Hi Kissa, Glad to have you back here! I have a book by G. Dunwich in which are several esoteric and witchcraft shops listed but I don't know if the book is still up to date but I'd be willing to check where the shops are in case you could give me with a hint where Newark is.

There is very little in Newark, New Jersey. However, you are right across way from Manhattan – and in New York City, you can acquire anything. :smoker:

Hi Kissa! Newark is, indeed, New Jersey, and it is right across the river from New York. I will look up some metaphysical shop locations for you and post them here!

Thanx to everybody, I thought too I would have to send DH to NY because from what he said, Newark seemed a bit ... dead ?! A big thanx especially to DarkElectric for the adresses, I will give them to DH next time he calls !!! :D And you also bothered to include the store hours !!! You sure know how to be helpful !!! I sent DH to Barnes and Noble yesterday, I don't know if he found one but he is usually quite good at finding shops when it is about DIY or sports. We shall now see if he succeeds the same way if the shopping is about tarot decks for me ??? From what he says, life seems to be really crazy there (crowdy, busy traffic etc.) ... I don't know how you guys can cope with it, congrats anyway from a woman who gets panick attacks doing Xmas shopping in a 40,000 inhabitants finnish city ;) ... Keep you posted about the nice Manhattan/NY souvenirs I'll hopefully get in a week or so ... :) Kissa

Hi Kissa! Barnes and Noble actually has a selection of Tarot decks. It isn't as extensive as the shops listed, but I have gotten a few good decks there. In helping you, I also helped myself...I got lured into the Enchantments website, and since they take paypal... I didn't get decks, but some other stuff I needed. I live relatively close to New York anyway, and am planning an in person trip there, and to both shops within the next two weeks! Hope your DH brings back what you want!

Hi! I am now the proud owner of six new decks : Zerner Farber, Spiral, Nigel Jackson, Fairies (Lupatelli), Wild Spirit and .... GREENWOOD !!! (Which is OOP and I guess quite hard to get). DH really made an excellent job, didn't he ?? With DarkElectric's instructions, he was able to find both shops in Manhattan. He liked Morganna's Chamber most, probably because there were cats (real ones) wandering in the shop and one jumped on his shoulder as he was choosing my cards. I guess he was missing our cats so this fellow made him feel like home or something ;) Anyway, just wanted to say a big THANK YOU again to DarkElectric without whom I would have gotten dull birthday presents instead of six nice decks :D Yep, I just turned 30 today ... bump since someone is looking for shops in New York!!! My DH was amazed by the black cat that jumped on his shoulders, he is a cat person so he liked it and still talks about it sometimes ;-) I wish I had been there or will be shopping in NY one day. Blessings, Kissa
