How did she do that?

I had my cards read by a professional a few years ago. I was not familiar with the tarot at the time but now dabble a little in it from time to time. From memory she used a Ryder Waite pack. She told me that i had 2 children and that was correct. She also saw a woman with long brown hair that was attracted to me - that proved to be correct as well. My question is - what cards in the spread gave her that accurate insight.

Well, first of all, I have to say that she's most likely a little more than "somewhat" psychic. Some people when reading can get certain impressions or thoughts flash through their mind. The cards that come up just trigger these impressions. Case in point: I was doing a reading for a friend a couple of days ago and when I pulled the "III Empress" card I immediatly thought of a child, and I felt a little sick to my stomach. It turns out she had been pregnant but miscarried. Now, there's a lot more to this reading than I've discussed here obviously but the point is, some cards can help to bring out or trigger a response. Used in conjunction w/the meaning of the card, sometimes you can get pretty descriptive.

likely she used the cards for a focus of her already strong psychic powers. The woman wth brown hair may be one of the court cards, here's how they are associated in the Waite's Pictorial Key to the Tarot

"The four Court Cards in Wands represent very fair people, with yellow or auburn hair, fair complexion and blue eyes. The Court Cards in Cups signify people with light brown or dull fair hair and grey or blue eyes. Those in Swords stand for people having hazel or grey eyes, dark brown hair and dull complexion. Lastly, the Court Cards in Pentacles are referred to persons with very dark brown or black hair, dark eyes and sallow or swarthy complexions."

Court cards can mean other things of course as well.

Knowing the exact number of children must of came from an outside psychic impression, the cards can say there are children but really cant be specific to number without a strong intuition or psychic influence.
