Does anyone keep their Tarot decks in boxes? I'ma fanatic of boxes, so keeping my Tarot decks in them takes on special meaning for me. I just recently bought and painted a box for my coming-soon Tarot deck. I also always put a small personal item in there to signify something of my choice. In this newest box I put a mini pillow, to signify comfort, familiarity, and a shoulder to lean on.

I don't usually keep my decks in boxes...except for the ones that they come in. Of course, once the box gets too ratty, I move on to something else. I may purchase some bags from the Tarot Totes website. The bags that they sell there look amazing, and lots of people love them!
I may get a box or two , to paint and see how that goes.

A small number of my decks are in individual wooden carved or inlaid boxes, others are in hand-made 'bags'. Personally, I find the bags more convenient for my usage, but prefer to use boxes when doing public readings (I then usually let the person choose the box - implicitly thus choosing a deck).
Personally, I do also keep each of those decks individually wrapped in silk.
As I only have a handful of boxes and four bags, this only caters for a small number of decks. My other decks, therefore, are in their original cardboard boxes.

I don't have any particular boxes for my decks except for one silver box that is embossed with Egyptian scenes that I keep my Book of Doors deck in.
I really like it. It's kind of dinged up and the hinges on the lid are broken, but I think that just gives it more character!
Otherwise, I go with Tarot Totes or any other little bags that work.
I am working on getting some boxes from work, though. I work for a gift store, so I'm always on the lookout for some nice boxes that would fit a deck of cards!
Peace,
Melvis

I am rather nuts about boxes too- I have a few nice wooden ones with decorative feet, sort of classical style. I like to put crystals in the bottom.
I also look for old jewelry boxes to redo for deck storage. I just found one with a bunch of drawers - enough room for about 10 decks.
I have also been having fun designing new tarot bags,-velvets & faux suede with embossed designs that are burnt into the fabric with an iron.
Hopefully one day I will get around to doing a decoupaged box with medieval elements.

That's really interesting Melvis - the only one I keep in a box is my Book of Doors deck also!!!!
It's a wooden engraved box that I have no idea where I got or really even how long I've had it. :)
But I have a lavender colored raw silk cloth that the deck is wrapped in and I set a crystal point and an amethyst star on top of the silk!
The rest of my decks are either in the boxes they came in or in bags.

That is an excellent idea, I hadn't even thought of that. I think I'm going to steal your idea when I get some more decks! And also, this thread has made me think of doing a collage box (I love collages)... thanks for all the great input!

Interesting to see that some of you like boxes too, I guess I collect them, I have all different sizes, some way too small for Tarot use.
I have a cedar box large enough to hold my Sacred Circle deck, and a folded spread cloth, that's probably my favorite. I also have a Myrtlewood box, from the Oregon coast.
Tarot Totes is great, glad to see others are buying from them too.
Don't even get me started about all of their cool bags and cloths that are on my wish list!

I have 2 wooden boxes and a triangular shaped case with 3 drawers in which I keep either Mini decks, my silver rings or my magic oils.

I'm lucky to have friends who work in tobacco shops. They provide me with very, very nice cigar boxes that I refinish and line with velvet or silk for my card decks. Depending on the deck and the box, I can put up to two decks in each one. The decks are held in compartments separately, and there's room to include the silk bag for each deck.

i have two "pretty nice/cool" "oval" shaped boxes (the lids sort of "snap on") that were made in india, and i bought/found them at a thrift store! (also, a great place to find small, "old style" glass containers for storing magickal herbs!)
