A friend came round last night for a 'card night', and taught me and my boufriend how to play Scarto, a Tarocchi game...
IT'S GREAT! We used the 1JJ Swiss deck, which was really cool too... Next time we might try using the Visconti Sforza for extra historical accuracy...
The game is very much lie Whist, where the aim is to win tricks. But in scoring, only the Courts and Judment, Fool, and Magician have a value...
YOu can Trump with the Majors, but you must follow suit first... It's a very good and addictive game.
Anyone else played it, or anything like it?
Kiama
Ps- We're gonna make it a regular thing to play Scarto at least once a week.

No I haven't, but it sounds like FUN! ;) Is there anywhere online where we can get instructions/rules if we want to play?

Kiama,
I haven't played that exact game (sounds really fun!!!!), but, I have played a type of "war" w/ the cards. If you've played with a regular deck of playing cards, it's the same thing. But, in the Tarot version, you take out the Majors, and you "win" them back everytime there's a war (the person who wins the war gets the top major.). The point of them is that whenever you play one, the opponent (s) have to give you the # of cards in accordance to the number of the arcana. Like if someone played the fool, each would take their card back. or, if someone played the Lovers, the opponent would have to give 6 (?) cards to the Lovers player. So on and so on, until one player has no cards left, or you get bored. if I've been rambling, please tell me!!
