Does your deck have Mojo?
If you don't know, that's okay.
Historically, mojo is attributed to voodun (voodoo) and is basically a fertility charm. The common vernacular finds "mojo" to be any person or thing with unexplained luck.
Fishing mojo happens when everybody else is drowning worms, and you've unexplainably got a hot stick. Music mojo is when you're in a groove, and playing way above yourself. Baseball mojo is when a fat, 39 year old pitcher throws a no-hitter. I think you get the idea.
My pocket sized Rider Waite deck has mojo. Its beat up, and the box has been repaired a dozen times with scotch tape. Anybody can touch it or look at it, and it has no special place of honor or fancy silk bag. And it also never fails to give better readings than any other deck.
It reminds of a crusty old 1940's blues guitar player from the Mississippi delta, whose possessions consist of a cheap suit, a beat up guitar case and a bus ticket. He opens the case and there's magic inside. You don't question mojo - you just accept it for what it is.
There are prettier decks out there, but my RWS has mojo.

Most definetly!!! My Cosmic Tribe definetly has Mojo ... no deck reads like that one ... it sings. It has an interesting story as one of the cards was marred (came with a printing stain), plus the deck came with a couple of extra cards (above and beyond the ones it should have). The publisher sent me whole new set when I told them about my marred Major Arcana card (the Magician), but to date I still use my original CT. There is something magical about that deck ... way above any other tarot deck I own ... it definetly has Mojo!

My very first Marseille Grimaud deck has mojo. The cards are getting scruffy and old. They don't slide anymore when I fan them. But I love them with their wrinkles.
No matter what problems I have, I find the solution with them.
I don't ever take them out of the house however, I'm too scared I'll lose them.
Wouldn't want to lose the mojo, you see.

I love my Sacred Circle, and yes I'm a little crazy..the people in the pictures talk to me using face and body language..
I'm not sure if it has mojo..but it does have my love..
SO,
How do I give my deck the "gift"?? Would love to give back for fun and laughs and serious stuff this deck has given me...
Blessings,
CJ

I think my newest deck is lacking it, but I don't think I've given it a chance yet. My first deck, the good old Aquarian Tarot, sure had it though. :) It seemed every reading was dead on, regardless of who it was for or what it was about. It was like magic working with it, but it sure drained a lot out of me. Now it sits on my bookshelf, usurped by prettier, newer decks. I hope to find another deck I can build a relationship like that with again.

No, no I do not think my RWS deck actually has mojo. I have had it a long time. I read for my grandmother with this deck when she first got sick, the first time anyone asked me a serious question with tarot. The deck has history and I wouldn't throw it away, but I *hope* that when I replace it I will not find that the replacement deck does not give such good readings. I hope a new deck will give better readings because I am learning more about tarot and how to read and because I am more in touch with . . . something.

hmmm.... Not sure my Robin Wood has Mojo (Though it has survived being drowned in beer, nearly set on fire by a stray cigarette, and being carried around in my bag for God knows how long!)
Maybe it's ME that has the Mojo?! ;)

I should start charging royalties for all this Mojo that's being spread around.

My Spiral has mojo, it reads better than all my other decks, it has a feel good quality about it - just to shuffle after a bad day makes me feel better. I knew this deck was special after just seeing scans of a couple of cards. I haven't yet come across a deck that feels like this one - I think I might be buying decks more for the artwork now lol :)

My Aquarian had mojo too, worn to softness and with it's special twist on what was going on.
My Universal RWS isn't quite there Mojo-wise, it still needs seasoning, and a few more miles on it, but I'm working on it. :)

I feel like my Universal Waites have good mojo, and are always trying to give me the best reading they can. It's usually my fault, since something gets lost in my translation, when things go wrong@!
And I feel such a kinship with them now, different aspects of the cards will suggest things to me now that I never could do before -- specifics, etc. So for that I'm really thankful of the super cool good mojo that I groove on.
I let everyone touch them if they wish, and keep them tied together with old toe shoes ribbons of mine, in a Crown Royal bag with a 3 of wands crystal. I don't know how the mojo got there but I'm protective of it now and for the most part I can't even imagine the idea of reading for strangers with any other deck. SHUDDER ~!

I liked the last post where someone made a very personalized packaging of their deck...Crown Royal on top and the delicacy of toe shoe ribbons, from head to toe, with the Universal in the middle, right where it should be.
It sounds like many people can read for others or themselves right out of the box...even when new?
While I'm finding a certain kinship for myself with a new deck, so that it is packing a nice drink of clear insight with tea-flavored tastes..either I or it doesn't have enough to use it for reading with others as soon as I got it.
I admire you experienced readers out there.

Thank you! That explains why 'mojo' was translated 'voodoo' in Fresh Prince of Bel Air! :D I don't quite agree with the translation however...
Mojo: *lol* I was waiting for your reply!

Now the Fantastical has mojo, baby, although not quite Austin Powers-like...the colours just seem to spin faster than a disco ball, drawing me into the deck, when I view them - I'm familliarizing myself with them now. And no, I do not smoke weed. :)

All the decks I use have the Mojo, cuz I got the Mojo in me!
But, Whammy and Ju Ju notwithstanding, let's hear it for Wonga!
