A t-shirt with their favorite card on it?
A gift basket with a theme? (An example: A whimsical deck, a fairy drop cloth and matching tote bag, baby powder scented sache, etc)
A tarot cd soundtrack?
What would you give, and what do you wish was out there to give?

I think the best gift to give would be a gift certificate to barnes and noble or amazon, so that the person could choose their own deck or book. Or if you know a local new age store that offers tarot "stuff" a gift certificate there might be good.

Like Blue-fusion I would like to know about a Tarot cd.
I love the gift basket idea!
I suggest anything from the Tarot Totes web site, they have the best bags and spread cloths that I have found. I just got a new spread cloth for my birthday!!

I agree, a gift certificate would be good... Or find out what is on there wish list and get that...
Or that super-duper gold Dali deck would make any Tarotholic delighted. (Even if they already have it...)
I am sure Tarot Jewelery would go down well... :) (Especially if it contained diamonds...

I support the gift cert idea, or perhaps a tarot book. Of course, it would be much easier if you knew what the recipient would and would not like...perhaps you could have the person's favourite card enlarged and made into a poster/wallhanging. :)

cool idea, I'd like a gift cert, or anything like that also. I had a thread something like this, and my friend and I are exchanging lists about which decks/ accesories that we want for the holidays (they're here already???!?!?!?!?!?).
violinlily
ps, another cool idea would b, if you do any kind of art form, (expanding on demonesse's idea, I hope you don't mind) you could make their fav card into a special pic or something in that medium. I'm making a colored pencil of a card for my friend also. Just an idea, have fun!

My family has been asking me about this, too. The tarotholic would like any number from one to ??? of the decks they have been coveting but won't buy themself because they have already bought too many decks this year.
Also tarot bags are always good - if you're not sure of what kind of pattern they'd like plain colors are excellent too.
If they use the cards to read, candles are always a good choice (for the non-tarotholic too) - some yummy incense if they enjoy incense, a lay cloth, a silk scarf. Journals and pencils and pens. A record book (or a computer program) to keep track of all those decks.
Lots of great ideas so far. :D
Or a donation to a favorite charity in the tarotholics name. :)

I've found some cool tarot pendants on eBay. You can get them for most of the major arcana cards. I have 4 I think. Quite fun, and definitely a great present.
Oh and mini-decks would make great stocking stuffers. Boy, I wish I could come out of the tarot closet to my family.

Boy, I wish I could come out of the tarot closet to my family.
I know that feeling!
Anyway, there are also some fridge magnets that go regularly on ebay, for each of the majors, and they're quite cheap too.
On the arts and crafts side of things - if you're that way inclined - you could silk paint some cushion covers of their favourite cards or deck. Or you could buy a copy of their favourite deck and mount the majors into one of those frameless picture frames.
And last but by no means least, if money is absolutely no object, I'd by the copyright to Dorothy Simpson Krause's unpublished deck..... but hang on, I want that deck so bad, I wouldn't be able to give it away to anyone! :D :D :D

The ultimate gift for a Tarot-holic?
*Sigh* One day I will marry a multi-billionaire, who can keep me in the manner I;d like to become accustomed... Complete and utter TAROT-DOM!!! })})})
I think more seriously though, myabe a gift basket with a greeting card which has a Tarot card cover... A very nice deck, plus a book, maybe a box, and a square of silk/bag to keep the deck in, a year's subscription to Aeclectic, and 'voucher' for a reading from me, and.... Mince pies.
:D
I am at this very moment attempting to figure out what to get the man who already has me... ;) (And if anyone says a guide dog and a white walking stick I'm gonna cry...)
Maybe a set of Runes would be nice too for theh Tarot-holic interested in other forms of divination? Handmade runes are easy to make, and more personal... And they can be surprisingly financially economic!

Instead of looking for tarot refrigerator magnets, take your deck over to one of the camera shops that are part of a chain--they can take ANY image and enlarge or reduce it & give it a magnet backing. So you can fine tune it to whatever deck you want.
Walgreens also has several things they can do with images, from calendars to t-shirt designs to those stand up 1/2" thick images as mantlepiece decorations. (As well as the standard mug, etc.).

Well call me not picky (definite sign of taroholism) but I will take ANYTHING tarot. Personally I prefer decks (rare OOP or hard to find ones *LOL*), but I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. The basket idea is fantastic by the way! That would be quite a dream present there ... deck, book, music, bag, spread cloth, candles ... ohhhhh my! ... do they have Tarot scented bubble bath yet? *ROFLMAO*

What would Tarot scented bubble bath be? Seventy-eight different scents chosen by card interpretation -- use to infuse your life with the essence of a card. Or choose a three-scent spread -- mix and match??
Me, I'd settle for a Medieval Scapini deck for the holidays.

I suggest contacting any of the tarot readers here for a price on gift readings to give taroholics or anybody else that would be open to it on your gift list.
You could get it done & have it sent to you in a sealed envelope (no snooping!) to put a bow on, or you could get a gift certificate for the lucky person to redeem themselves.
Possible suggestions might be past life readings, or an upcoming year forecast. Even if you read tarot yourself, you still need another perspective & it's fun to see how others interpret the cards.

Of course the best tarot gift would be the aeclectic trip around the world, with stops at kiamas house, polluxs house, kaynes house, dianas house, tarotladys house, and any other aeclectic member that would have you, with the lst stop being a special vip visit to solandia ;)

ok...i'll share a trade secret..lol..
I make bath salts called magick moon drops. The base is from Scot Cunninghams "The Complete Book fo Incense, Oils and Brews" (great book)..it goes like this:
3 parts Epsom Salts
2 parts baking Soda
1 part table salt (or Borax)..I use table salt
add no mor than a total of 10 drops of essential oil per 1/2 cup of salts.
why not 78 different bath salts..make a batch of base and add the oils you like, you only need 1/2 cup per bath.
my mix's are clearly - lavender, rosemary, pepermint
midnight - Ylang Ylang, lavender and rose

sorry...
the last mix is faery garden - Rosewood, orange and jasmine..
I love them and so do my friends..
I sell them in 2 cup pkg's..add a few candles and a tarot cd and you have a wonder start to a great gift basket..
PS..I use "soap color" instead of food color to add a little color to the salts..looks prettier in the bag.
Blessings and happy holiday...
PS if any wants to know..I want a wooden table just for Tarot and my errr alter, if you want to call it that..

Would it be out-of-line for me to suggest a Tarot Garden gift certificate for the tarot-lover in your life (especially if that's you)?
:| If so, could I be forgiven if I offered a 5% purchase price discount off of the certificate "face value" to Aeclectic members (or persons buying a certificate for Aeclectic members)?
(Yes, I'm serious about the discount.)

There is a tarot 'soundtrack' that I see all the time on eBay.
I think it's called the Sound of Tarot, since someone asked.
There is a tarot meditation book that comes with a CD.
By the way, I think all of Aeclectic should chip in and buy me a
Greenwood Tarot set for Christmas.
Just a thought.

I would like some perfume that smells like freshly opened tarot cards. Then when I get the urge to buy a new deck I could just splash some on. Maybe it would hold me over untill the urge passes.

I do handpainted tarot boxes, also tarot holiday ornaments and tee shirts and tote bags. The boxes hold 4 decks and are handpainted with any card image people want. You can see pics at http://www.dolphin-daze.com/ make sure you look at page two of the boxes those are my newest ones and most challanging. :)

Tarot soap? ya mean someone else has already marketed this?!
And this was going to be my new original idea for the holidays!
(Actually E-bay no longer has that file...so I have no idea what it looked like...can you enlighten me, Liliana?)
I have been working on new artsy tarot-related things to add to the little gallery that has my work in it.
Besides the handpainted boxes, and bags, I thought about adding jewelry (tarot charm necklaces!) candleholders, and the aforementioned tarot soap to my repetoire.
I don't paint any deck images that already exist (although I did once do a leather vest with RWS cards...) because I don't wanna get into copyright trouble. So most of the card images I create are the one -of a kind original variety.
As for what I would like as a gift,( being a practising tarotholic...) I would have to say more decks...or more space to house my collection. But silk scarves are always nice and useful too!

Please can you tell us more about the Tarot Jacket? I went to the tarot garden link but it had gone. Sorry - I know it's way back in the thread but it does sound interesting.
We are hoping to make some greetings cards, as we've been asked quite frequently, but there just hasn't been time and it will have to be next year now (one thing we can't get in Prague is decent greetings cards - I always just have to shop for the least awful one - so we simply have to design our own!)
I have fantasies about designing a tarot porcelain range - I love porcelain. Not too decorative (not as fussy as Versace Rosenthal) but beautiful, restrained and with great colours. Ah well, it'll have to go on being a dream - unless Santa brings me a fortnight's free rein in a porcelain factory for Christmas LOL

A gift certificate is a good idea, but better yet is find out the much desired deck on the wish list and get that, then they have something to play with on Christmas morning :D
And a nice quilted or embroidered bag ( because the new deck will need a home too ) ;)

I gave a lady for a house warming gift a clear dish with a dozen stones (crystals) in it. That I thought was a nice gift. Everyone likes my stones but I'm the only one I know who has any in a dish.
Also a crystal ball even if it is just for decoration.
Also just an amethyst crystal to set in decoration

A lost of people that I have readings done have angels around. So what about a nice picture of an angel or fairie.
Any kind of wizard or wise woman statue. I have a pewter Queen holding a crystal ball.

I echo the gift certificate idea. After all, at least for many of us, choosing a deck is a very personal and sometimes complex affair. I really wouldn't try to guess what someone else might like, unless of course I had access to their wishlist.
To my fellow Americans on the list: have a wonderful holiday tomorrow!
