How young is too young?

A teen of a year and a half? Does that mean eleven and a half??? If so, wow you're early...I believe the word is "precocious" but I believe the earlier you delve into divinatory arts and learning to know yourself better, the better!

I made another mistake!!! ahhhhh!!!
Most people I know associate "teenager" with the age of thirteen. A year and a half would be 14 1/2, sorry again, thanks for the reply though!!

My son is 10. When I got back into Tarot this summer, he wanted a beginner book and deck so I got him one. He gives his grandmother readings. He has a terrific mind. If it turns out to be a novelty, well, it's one more experience under his belt. But if he continues with it, then what a wonderful advantage to have started so young. His grandmother, btw, says he's pretty good!

My 13-year-old grandson wanted to learn Tarot, so I bought him a Rider-Wait deck and "Tarot for a New Generation" by Jeanina Renee. The last I heard he was doing fine, but he lives about 100 miles away and I don't get to see him much. I thinK I'll see him at Thanksgiving, so I'll get some idea if he's still interested. I think people in their teens are exploring ideas and life and all that stuff. Some things they take to their heart, and others kind of fade away. I'm a little concerned that he'll be afraid that he'll hurt my feelings if he goes on to something else.
Lots of good luck, Violinlily. I hope your studies bring you wisdom and self knowledge. Not to mention that Tarot can also give you insights which help you navigate life's stresses and shoals a little more easily.

To me, it's not too young, but I started at 9, since both of my parents were tarot readers, but be very careful who you tell about it...

I think you can't be too young...It tottaly depends on what kindda person you are and what you are doing with your life. How mature you are..etc
I was 15 so just half a year older than you are know..so go for it ;)

I'm 15 and have been doing readings for about 2 years now. I'm still not that great but I think I'm getting somewhere....Woohoo!

I began studying Tarot at the age of 9, and I am sooooo glad that I did! When you're a kid, or teen, your mind is naturally mor eopen to new ideas and learning cuz you're constantly in school HAVING to learn, so at this age, it is easier for you to grasp the concept of the Tarot... (Though this is generalising).
Having spent exactly half my life (9 years) with Tarot, I'm fairly proud of the experience I have.
My younger sister is 11, but I started introducing her to the Tarot when she was nearly 10. She's found it dead easy to grasp, and because she's so young, there aren't any pre-conceived ideas about Tarot being evil etc...
So, no, I don't personally think you can be too young to start studying Tarot.
