I have the old version of the Tarot Workbook by Emily Peach (republished as Understanding and Using Tarot Symbolism I believe). For each card some correspondences are listed. Among those correspondences is a name, such as The Spirit of Aether for the Fool and The Daughter of the Might Ones for the Empress. I've never seen these names listed in any other book I've read (and there are lots I haven't read), so I'm wondering if someone could tell me where she is getting these names from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

The Hermetic Tarot by Godfrey Dawson is a Tarot deck based on Golden Dawn teachings which uses these names for the Major Arcana... Really beautiul nakes such as Daught erof the Shining Waters, Lord of the Mighty Rivers, etc... Lord of Matter I think is another... They help alot in adding extra meaning to the cards.,
Not sure if other Golden Dawn decks do this though.

Ms. Peach also gives similar names for the Minor Arcana. Does Godfrey Dawson do so as well? I do love the names, but I have always wonder where they come from.

I think he does do the same for the Minors, though htey are different... I have a feeling Crowley does the same for the Minors as well, thouhg I think somebody else would need to confirm that as I am only typing thi from memory: The decks are at home and I can't get to them right now!
Maybe asking in he Tarot Decks forum would yield some better repsonses?

you can see the full deck of the Hermetic Tarot by Godfrey Dowson here!
You have to scroll down and to the right is the deck.
He uses Lord of the Material Works for 3 of Pentacles.
The Shakespearian Tarot author Dolores Nowicki-Ashcroft also used some titles here and there in her book about her deck and I wondered where in the world she got them from because she never mentioned Hermetic or Golden Dawn. So I finally found them on the Hermetic Tarot.
Seeing the online scans of the Hermetic also helped me figure out the age old mystery of which suits were which on the Shakespearian Tarot. Since the 3 of Orbs was called Lord of the Material Works, it has to be 3 of pentacles! And Crowns are cups. Now all I need to acquire the Hermetic Tarot!! /drool
Hope that helped!

Yep, those are the "extra" names Ms. Peach gives in her book. Wonderful! Thank you both for your help!

Oh my gawd! I've been trying to figure this out ever since I got the Shakespearian Tarot. Different reviews list different interpretations. Nowicki-Ashcroft's site makes no mention of it. (I just found this thread with a "crowns orbs" search)
I've been wanting to do some comparisons of this deck with the Shakespeare Oracle.
Perhaps now I have the "official" answer!!! :D
