The other night my sister-in-law asked me to a reading on her father's upcoming surgery. The cards didn't really indicate a glowing success and I really didn't know what to say to her. I didn't want her to be all stressed out, but I couldn't lie either. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle a situation like this? I'd really appreciate your input.
thanks,
mrsjvan

mrsjvan: Such situations can be amongst the most challenging for a reader. In the case with your reading, this could mean the condition is such that the surgery is a last resort, which would mean it could be a difficult one. An outcome can be uncertain given the variables involved (the general health of the patient, any underlying conditions; those involved in his care) &/or the recovery will take some time. A surgery can be technically successful, but the healing process is up to the patient's resources.
It could be seen as a call to prayer. If these folks practice prayer, you could suggest the family hold a prayer vigil prior to & at the time of surgery & after. 'Tis important to keep in mind that healing can take different forms & that 'tis not up to an individual to declare what form it takes. Thus, they can "lend" their energies in asking that the medical personel be guided for the highest good of the patient & that healing be in accordance with the highest good or the need of the patient.
