I am deliriously happy...
Twas All Hallows Eve, and all through the Pub... Blah blah...
I went with a few friends to our local for drinks and Pagan talk as we do most Thursday nights, but cuz of Smahain, I got dressed up in some Goth gear (CORSET! YEEEHAAA!). I looked quite good. I was showing my friend my Robin Wood deck, and I could feel some eyes peering over my shoulder... It was a very interested bartender, who had a cheap deck at home and had read a couple of books but had left it at that...
"You do Tarot?"
"I LIVE Tarot!"
"Do you believe in it?"
"Sure. I know it works, and it's acted as a good guide for me so far..."
"I've got a deck at home, but don't really do Tarot."
"Would you like a reading?"
"I'd LOVE a reading! How much do you charge?"
This took me by surprise... I got all flustered, and just said, 'Usually nothing...'
"Can I buy you a drink?"
So, I got a drink, did a really good reading for her, and chatted a while. Then...
"I was thinking about doing this on a regular basis... Would the manager mind if I came in here Friday nights and put a sign up or something...?"
"I doubt it, I'll go ask..."
Then another person came along for a reading, and offered me a drink cuz she was a bartender too, but I already had a drink so declined the offer. Now I have a regular Friday 'slot' at that pub, and the girl I did a reading for first is advertising for me outside the pub with a sign... :D
Somebody up there loves me.

Hey, congrats, Kiama! You had the guts to do it and you've come through. How did it feel? Post a picture of you in a Goth corset, that'll be even better!

We all love you HERE Kiama! ;)
That's awesome, congrats on a successful evening and I can't wait to hear more about your future experiences!
I had a VERY similar experience last year, and when I ran into the pub owner a couple months ago, he remembered me and asked me to come back THIS Hallowe'en. Of course I did, so it sounds like we were doing pretty much the same thing last night!
I'm really happy for you, nice to know there are kindred spirits out there .

I love to hear about those of you who start "pro" reading, it's so encouraging for the people like myself, who haven't taken that step yet.
I know it will happen when the time is right. I'm so happy for you, please keep sharing your experiences with us!

Congratulations Kiama!
Isn't it interesting when something you've been hoping for kind of falls into your lap like that? Totally cool!
Are you going to dress up when you do readings, or wear what you do normally to go to the pub?

WooHoo Kaima! Sounds like fun (and not just 'cause you were wearing a corset... :P)
Oh, btw... They are not all going to pay you with a drink are they? Your readings could be very *interesting* by the end of the night if they did... LOL :D
Enjoy!!!

Great news, Kiama.
When the Goddess (Universe, or?) has plans for you, she really does it up brown, doesn't she.
I have to admit that I'm deeply envious!
Best wishes,
Red Emma

Congratulations Kiama, I have to say that I am truely jealous, I wish that I could do the same thing. I still have much to learn. I am just a beginner but I have always wished to work in a nightclub or pub and doing what we love. It's such a fun and relaxed atmosphere. One day I will be able to till then all I can do is hit the books and keep reading the forums which have been plenty of help. Goodluck and have fun! :)

'Lo all,
Someone, somewhere, is going to say to Kiama, or about Kiama, "Well, gosh, if only I had the opportunity she has, I could do that."
She has studied hard, concentrating on the cards until little beads of blood formed on her forehead, collected decks, done readings for anyone who asked, been unquenchable in her Tarot devotion (if you think she IS quenchable, try throwing a bucket of water on her), written insightful and intelligent reviews of Tarot decks, and has always been willing to prop up and help people who stumbled along the path, always offering encouragement and good cheer. And, most important in my narrow and tiny little perspective, always done this with a keen sense of humor and the ability to laugh at things.
I'm just pickled tink about this. Kiama finally, after all the effort, got a free beer.
And, I'm positive that this is just the very start of wonderful things to come.
Buckle seat belts, folks. You ain't heard nothin' yet.

My goodness, all this support... I've had an emotional roller-coaster of a weekend, with it ALL beginning that Thursday night...
Talisman: Again, you make me cry with joy.
All htose who wanna see photos: I don't have any photos from that night... I'll see if I can get some taken anyway, cuz I have a photo of a True Student's Reading which I have to get developed and post here...
VGimlet: I'll just be dressing normally for my next readings... I only wore the corset cuz I felt kinda Halloweeney and dark that night, though I feel more at ease with others and myself if I am wearing clothes I am comfortable and used to...
I still haven't got the guts to ak the New Age shops in Cardiff (What few there are) if they want a Tarot reader for Saturday's or something though... :(
Thanks for all your support again guys... Where on Earth would I be without my Aeclectic friends?

readings (=drinks) I could do before I started making sense.
Usually it takes me a beer or so to qualify for "driving while intoxicated" so I wonder about "reading while intoxicated".
Anyway congrats!
Alex.
