I've heard a few people mention keeping tarot journals, and this sounds like an interesting idea that I'd like to try. What kinds of things do you write in such a journal?

I write my spreads down in my tarot journal. At times, I write more than the spread if I have time to go way into detail, like my impressions from the reading and insights from books I have. When I write down the spread, I write the date, the question, what deck I used and what each position means.

I use my journal mostly to record readings.
At the front I have my interpretations of the cards I own.
When recording a reading I write down the date, deck used, spread used, question asked and who the reading is for.
Then the interpretation for each position and the cards. At the end a general summary of the reading.
It's interesting to go back to them after a few months to look over and see how things developed. Sometimes I find looking back that I missed something inthe reading that the cards may have been spelling out for me! All part of the learning process!
Also readings that made no sense at the time make perfect sense with hind sight.
Bright Blessings,
Evie

Hey there,
welcome to the forum! (I've been here for a while, but am not the most frequent poster lately, for several reasons - but it's nice to meet some new faces when one comes back!)
There are SO many things you can do with a Tarot journal - in my case there are so many things one can do I have more than one to fit everything in...!
First of all a journal is great to journal your daily spreads. You can go back and check what cards you have been drawing for a period back, to see if there are patterns over time that may be useful as a key to your situation. I love to work the Tarot like this, and have found it most useful!
Secondly - of course - there are other spreads than the dailies. Readings for yourself, readings for others, all the spreads you do you will want to keep to be able to review, and learn from your experience.
Third - I have a journal for just writing down all the little details I come to think of in regards to the cards. A few pages or so for each card, and every time I do a reading where an alternative meaning or perspective for a card comes up, I write it down there.
Fourth - this is my next project, and I honestly haven't had time to try it out yet, but I am very sure it is a good way to work a new deck: I've got myself a separate notebook/journal to write down my reflections and thoughts about my newest deck. I just got the Cosmic Tribe Tarot, which is a very different deck from the ones I've used before. So my plan is to pick one card from that deck every day (haven't decided if I want to draw one, or do them in order...) and write down what I think, feel and read in the card.
Fifth - I am thinking of getting one of those 5-year-calendars, and write down the daily cards with a short note on what went on that particular day, and be able to see patterns over a longer period. Could be interesting...!
I'm pretty sure there are several more ways to journal your Fool's journey, these are the ways I am using it at the moment. If you find other ways - feel free to share!
Light and love,
Jenny :)

Thanks for your ideas, and for pointing out those threads. That give me an idea of directions I can go.
