I live about 30 seconds walk from a New Age shop called the Hobbit Hole. It has a twin about 15 minutes walk from where I live.
Anyway, my boyfriend was casually chatting to the owner of the two shops, and the conversation slipped onto me being a Tarot reader in need of somewhere to read. The owner said that he had a room which I could use, which is very comfortable and perfect for it.
So, we're working out advertising, and I get to use the room in the New Age shop for professional Tarot readings. I'm charging £15 a reading, which seems to be a little less than the going rate around here. (The other Tarot reader that I know of in Cardiff is none other than... Lee Petulengro. Famous Romany clairvoyant, member of one of the only true Romany families left in England, internationally know... And HE'S my competition. *Kiama cries*)
I can't wait to get started. Especially considering Tarot is my biggest hobby, and I will be getting badly needed money for doing something I enjoy! And I can say, when I'm old and wrinkly... 'When I was just 18, I had a job as a Tarot reader...' Bats the Summer Job!

That's fantastic!!! I'm so happy for you. Will you get to sort of decorate the room and make it all cozy and stuff? You'll have to keep us posted on how it goes. Will you bring a selection of cards for the clients, or will you have a specific deck you use for them?
Just very curious. This sounds like a fabulous opportunity.

Great news for you Kiama! Many people may not wish to go see the psychic guru guy and might prefer a more low key, and inexpensive, reading. It could be your niche!
And, like you said, you get bragging rights :D ... my first professional reading was when I was a wee lass of 18 .....
I love that it's at the Hobbit Hole! Are you familiar with the stories? To me, that would feel like a good omen ... reading Tarot in the Shire. That sounds ever so nice!!
anyhow Congratulations, and tell us how it goes, i enjoy stories so much~!!!

Kiama: the Hobbit Hole sounds like a perfect place. I am really thrilled for you.
Don't worry about the competition. There's enough room for you both. You both have your different styles, and I don't think people will compare you to to Lee Petulengro.
Maybe he will come to you for a reading one day!
Please let us know when you have your first client. 15 pounds is not too much for a good reading, and as you're not too expensive, people will be encouraged to come and soon word will get around.
You will soon be a celebrity.
