HELP, I'm gettig worried

Hi all, Have a question, I use a pendulum from time to time..for now it's answers are totally off. Am I in danger of my readings being off. Has this ever happened to anyone? and what can I do to get a strait answer from the Pendulum... HELP.. Cj

hi cj: i've used a pendulum (mayhap you might have TITLED your POST as such??? "pendulum inquiry"???) in specific magickal operations (for divinity i've used it to predict the sex of an unborn fetus, et cetera), but, for tarot, what "system" do you use? what is your intent? you're not giving us much to "work with" in your question, are you, cj? ~Z~770 :})

CJTarot, Perhaps you need to re-charge your pendulum. I have a ritual that I use for my runes, tarot cards, etc., when I feel they are getting weak or the readings are off. I draw an imaginary circle and sit in the center. I use burning incense to the east to represent air, a lit candle in the south for fire, a bowl of water in the west for water, and a bowl of nice potting soil in the north for earth. I take the runes or cards and pass them through the smoke from the incense, quickly through the flame of the candle (do this fast so it won’t burn), dip it in the water (or dip a cloth in the water and then pass the cloth over the cards), and then sprinkle a bit of dirt on the object. I have variations of this that work better for different objects. Anyway, I then let the object spend one full day in the sunlight and one full night under the moonlight (preferably a full moon). By the time I finish, the object is fully energized! I can tell a huge difference with my runes or cards after I have finished with this ritual! This might be worth a try.

Er...is there any way to do this without getting water and dirt on the cards? ;)

Demonesse you can touch the cards to a pentacle to represent Earth instead of using the dirt. `Fraid there`s no substitute for the water though. I use this ritual as well and it works for me. You could try visualising cleansing white or gold light surrounding your pendulum or cards and getting rid of any negative energies as well. Love and light Crystalmynx

Hi, The question is more to my divination ability..not so much just the pendulum. I think I will charge the pendulum and see what happens..From there we will try again.

For Earth, you can put the dirt in a bag (either cloth or paper, I wouldn't use plastic) and place the bag on the deck or the deck on the bag, whichever seems the best for you. You could wrap the deck in a cloth and set it on the dirt. Or, you can use some other symbol for Earth like Crystalmynx suggested. For water, you might need to get a bit creative. I have a small wire rack that is supposed to be used in a cupboard to give you more stacking room. I have placed a bowl of water under this rack and the deck on the rack. It's like holding the deck above the water for however long you want to hold it there. Or, you can put the deck under a bowl of water if you are careful not to make it spill. You could put water in a glass that has an opening that is smaller than the deck is wide and then put the deck across the opening of the glass. As I mentioned above, you can dampen a cloth and drape it carefully over the cards. Anything that symbolizes water (like an Aquarius symbol) could be placed on the cards, especially if you are really interested in astrology. Let your mind decide what will work for water. Be creative!

One of the best tarot readers I know, the man who reads my cards every Monday evening, once attempted to use a pendulum to find out my new address to test his divinatory ability. The answers it gave him took him to a house on the far side of town to me. He eventually found my address via the phone book. :) Don't judge yourself by your success with a particular tool. Most likely, either you're trying too hard or not able to focus your awareness because of stress,anxiety or distractions or you are asking the pendulum the wrong questions. None of this means you are suddenly becoming less "psychic". Laurel

I know the intent of a ritual is the most important part. Anyway: Wouldn´t it make a little more sense if you would first cleanse the cards with fresh air and sunlight and afterwards empower them with the help of the elements ?

Lupo, Of course you should use whatever method works the best for you. If the fresh air and sunlight represent cleansing then it would make sense to do this first. For me, the Sun, Moon, and Stars represent that which is above the earth. So for me, I charge the cards with the earthly powers first and then the higher powers. I do have a neutralizing portion of my ritual that I do first. It just all depends on how each individual views the ritual and what each part of the ritual represents to that person. If the Sun is a cleansing process, do it first. If the Sun is a higher power, do it later. Make it fit your belief and what you are comfortable with. I always enjoy hearing how other view things.
