My 12 yr. old son was moping around the house today complaining about how bored he was. My 8 yr. old is sick and none of his friends were home. So he helped me cleanse and bless my cards.
I set up my statue of Isis and lit a white candle. I handed him the
lit smudge stick. He held the smudge stick for me while I waved the cards of three decks through the cleansing smoke and invoked the Goddess Isis to bless my cards. I was very impressed with the reverance that he showed during this ritual, and he kept the smudge lit by putting it to the flame of the candle.
I asked him if he enjoyed helping or if he did it just for something to do and he said "both".
(He smiled a sarcastic smile when I mentioned in my prayer to
Isis that I really needed her Goddess energy because I was the only woman in a house full of men, even the dog is male.)
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you. It meant a lot to me to see how my son reacted to this ritual.
I was a practicing Catholic until all this nonsense with church started. I still consider myself Christian, but I've sort of sworn off organized religion.
Thanks for chance to share !!!!

That is really cool Shadow Wolf! I hope that wnen my baby boy is older that he wants to participate in and learn the Tarot also. I hope your sons gain more interest and then you can have meaningful hobby to share, so you won't feel so overwhelmed by all the masculine energy in the house! ;)

The funny thing about growing up catholic (and being an altar boy - AND at one time considering the priesthood) is that catholics never seem to understand that the whole mass thing is one big ritual and delves into ceremonial magick.
I mean, this man in the robes was annointed by a bishop. He stands in front of an altar, does his 'priest-y thing' and symbolically turns flat wafers and wine into the symbolic body and blood of Jesus -- sounds like Magick to me!

Good point, tarotbear! As stated in another thread, bibliomancy is also a form of divination very much practiced by Christians of all kinds. I know there are other similar arguments as well.
