Tarot for pets?

This is kind of a three-part question. First off, do any of you do Tarot readings for people regarding thier pets (dogs, cats, etc)? And if so, what kind of a spread do you use? (Do you just use one of your "regular" spreads, or a special one?) And lastly, do you use a specific deck for these readings, or just your usual deck?

Sam, one of our youngest members, but who is too busy playing Sims and studying at school now to join us often, used to be our official Aeclectic Tarot Reader for Animals. He did some absolutely wonderful and insightful readings for people here for their pets (you'll find his threads if you do a search with "Pets" for Keyword and "Sam" for User Name.

This is the spread he would use:

1. What your pet likes
2. What your pet needs
3. What your pet thinks of you
4. What your pet thinks of her/his treatment
5. Your pet's health

There's also a nice spread in the Power Tarot book by Trish MacGregor and Phyllis Vega:

1................2
....3.........4
.......5...6
..........7

1. What your pet is trying to tell you
2. What your pet is feeling right now
3. What you can do to help your pet
4. What your pet needs most at this time
5. Your pet's general health
6. Something your pet will need or feel in the near future
7. Overall outlook for your pet

I have also once done a spread for my cat when I was getting worried about his bulimia, because although he had been de-wormed thoroughly, he continued to be famished constantly. The spread informed me that he had not, much to my astonishment, been de-wormed sufficiently. I used my usual deck.

im always surprised at how people apply new age principles in their lives and dont think of it for their pets! being an astrology buff it drives me crazy when you have a rescue animal that you dont have an exact birthdate or time, so i like to use an astrology spread to cast their chart. i usually use the golden dawn (chicero) for astrological insight in a reading. somtimes i just go three card and for health readings i just use three chakras for pets and use the herbal tarot book- but you must be experienced with herbs and homeopathy so dont use at home unless you know what is safe for your pet.
my one cat has a estimate b-day of may 30 2000. here is is astro-tarot chart.
center card i consider basic personality-4wands-venus in aries
1st house-chariot
2nd house-hanged man
3rd house-Qswords (there's his mommy!)
4th house-3swords saturn in libra
5th house-Aswords
6th house-9swords mars in gemini (very sick as baby im not a cat person but i took him because i knew i could help him)
7th house-10 pentaclesR mercury in scorpio
8th house-prince pentacles
9th house-8cups saturn in pisces
10th house-the magician
11th house-the lovers
12th house-8swords jupiter in gemini
his estimate b-day has sun, venus, and mars in gemini and he has plenty of that in this spread!

I've used several spreads on our pets, and do at least one a year on each of them. If you want a simple spread, try this 3 card draw.

1. Tell me something I know about ___________
2. Tell me something I don't know
3. Tell me something that I need to be more aware of

Each pet will get a very distinct answer. Sometimes you get the really obvious, sometimes you'll get a nicely deeper meaning (which if you think about the last month or two on the pet it SHOULD have been obvious).

Hi all,
Yes! I read cards for my cats! Absolutely! All three of my cats will walk on or paw at the cards when I have a deck out. One thing that I find really interesting is that my cats will walk on or paw at any deck I have out except one. Guess which one they won’t walk on – Tarot for Cats, of course! They show great respect for that deck! hehehe.

"Tarot for Cats" - as opposed to the 'Cat People tarot' is a wonderful deck, written by someone with a great deal of tarot Smarts, but able to access it from a feline point of view. I am not sure if the deck & book set is avavilable- someone once said it was out-of-print. It does have it's own set of spreads and a wonderful tongue-in-cheek book that accompanies it. I'm not sure you could use the deck to read for canines, though, so if there is a tarot-reading dog lover out there--Here's your niche!

Thank you all for your suggestions and spreads! As usual, all very helpful!

Checked the Tarot for Cats at Tarot Garden. It indicated this is a Majors only deck, is this the one y'all are talking about? I absolutely loved Strength and The Hanging Cat! Had me laughing out loud!
