My husband, who knows next to nothing about tarot, looked at a spread I had laid out. He started to talk about the images e.g.
6 of Cups [hudes deck] "the children are sorting things into/out of of the cups", he said. The card related to a 'saying goodbye' spread about my father whom I feel is likely to pass on soon, position 4 - how to help myself. I had interpreted it to mean I should nurture myself by cherishing the good memories, remember that for much I had not been responsible - my father had been the adult and I, the dependent child. But my husband's comments made me realise I need to pay more attention to the less-than-good memories, sort through them, acknowledge them, forgive and let them go. [i later realised that the fact that my husband had never commented before, by doing so now was in itself a nurturing response to me].
Pleased that his comments had been so warmly received, when I next laid out a spread fo my husband he started to talk about what he saw. I then used his thoughts and added my interpretations. The reading of course ended up as a dialogue but with 'no escaping the cards' it was extremely helpful, he said.
I think what actually happened was that my husband was doing a reading for himself and I was adding a commentary. Of course he ended up intrugued by the correlation between his own insights and accepted meanings of the cards. The fact that the High Priestess frequently appears in his readings has now taken a new slant!
Oh dear, I fear that my space for quiet introspection is going to be invaded by a fascinated newcomer.

By all means encourage your husband's tarotholicism. He might particularly like Gestalt-style tarot. There's a great source book for that but the name escapes me right now here at work.

How wonderful to share something so intimate with someone you love! Wish my husband would convert!
