That's a favorite of mine as well :).
I have a question for you. Is this topic only for decks with pretty art? Or is it for decks that preform well as Tarot decks?

Hey Patter,
I moved this thread to Talking tarot because it is not about creating your own deck. I think it may get more views here too. :)
One of my fav tarot artists is Padma (?) the artist that created the Osho Zen Tarot. I can't work with it as a deck but the art and colours are brilliant! :)

Thanks for that link ravenswing!
Aren't there some others out there? I am thinking more of decks in progress from current artists rather than 'working' deck. There must be a lot of artists out there working on tarot or tarot inspired projects and I woul;d love to hear about them!

What`s the deck called that Patter linked to, the majors are gorgeous. Are the minors as good?
Crystalmynx xx
Edited to add: How stupid am I? I`ve just realised that those are Mary El`s minors Duh!

My God! Mary-El! Those are the most breath-taking paintings! The most exquisite tarot art I have ever seen. Thank you for the links Ravenswing and Patter!

Oooooh, now I have seen all the scans. In the minors I especially love the three of swords.
Some of the minors are rather disturbing!
My favorite major is the High Priestess. -- no wait, the Tiger -- Temperance!! --- no, no, wait, Judgement, the Phoenix!.... oh geez...
I just saw Marie's links page: here are all the other artists links that you were hoping for, Patter.
http://www.mary-el.com/links.html
and the really fun thing is that Marie posted her 5 year old daughter's tarot drawings too.
http://www.mary-el.com/sophietarot.html
I like what Marie says on her site: <<One of the things I love most about tarot is seeing how each artist interprets all of the individual concepts within the structure of the standard tarot deck. ..>>
That is EXACTLY how I feel, that is why it is so fun to get more...more...and more...heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

My favourites are Nathalie Hertz, Melanie Gendron, Kipling West, Paula Gibby, Luis Royo, Mary Hanson-Roberts (and Brian Froud for the Faeries Oracle). Can't wait for the Mary-El; hopefully it'll be reasonably priced.

Marie and I have a mutual admiration society going. ;)
But, excuse me, I've got to say this. And anyone who cares enough to disagree is more than welcome to do so.
I'm my own favorite tarot artist. :D
I would encourage anyone to become their own favorite tarot artist.

Can you believe a publisher already turned Mary El down? She was networking at the last Tarot conference, though, so hopefully something opens up for her. I don't think she wants to self publish.
There's more info over on her site (she's also pregnant & will deliver fairly soon, so that's side tracking her a bit).

all right major. let's hear a cheer for that one. if you're not your own favorite, your deck isn't your own.
