This is just a thought, but it seems that using the tarot cards brings me into a deep state of relaxation. I know that this is a major reason that many people use the cards, as tools to be more in touch with their inner-selves, but is there any explaination for WHY the cards would have such an impact?

I woudl say that it's because when we are using the cards, we are usually sitting down, kneeling, or just being somewhere where we are stationary, usually where it's quiet, and we are thinking. We are contemplating. This is not something we usually do at work, nor whilst running for the bus, basically, maybe it's because using Tart is like us stopping our busy lives for a moment andjust taking time ut to think about what we are actually doing ijn our busy lives and where we are going...

I find that when I am on a roll with my reading I do feel relaxed. Maybe it's just the calming element, that I am more aware of myself. Maybe it's the meditation. However, what I love is the beautiful feeling of warmth I feel when I connect to someone.
I also build model aircraft. That is relaxing, and I am sitting down, and not stressed. However, the psychic element is missing, so I would say that tarot is special.

wow, you state such a wonderful question. I do think that it has a lot to do with sitting still and thinking about our lives and the activities going on around us. Perhaps it has a little to do with getting in touch that much more with the universe, or even getting better in touch with our selves by using more of our brain, becoming more complete and using more of what we are capable of. There are (I'm sure) thousands of reasons of why.
