Hi,
There is a lot of serious discussion going on on this forum right now, which is great - but I thought I'd throw in something to make anyone with a cat smile.
My cat has been trying to get his paws on my new Victoria Regina deck for days. The other evening after I finished a reading I said to him "okay, you win, draw one card". He VERY carefully pulled one out from the fan I offered him, turned it round (also very carefully) and then let me have it. Guess what, it was Strength Reversed. (LOL)
Think he is telling me that he controls me more than I control him?

Karen Ohhh, he doesn't need to tell you that.. it's intuitive... any cat controls its owner. :P Well, then again.. it's a matter of him knowing it, and you finally understanding it...
BTW, I haven't seen the Victoria Regina deck, but does the strength card depict the lion and the maiden? Cats are just soo intuitive })
Peace!

LOL that's a good one! i think you need to watch out for that rascal. ;) at least he didn't try to eat the card like my cat. of course, it was the 6 of birds in the animal wise deck so i guess he can plead temporary insanity. he sure did take a chomp out of it. i was able to get a replacement card from the publisher.
then there's his adventures with the shiny neferteri. he ambushed me one day while i was doing a reading. i knew he was watching me but i didn't know what shadows lurked in his little predator heart. all of a sudden he jumped my cards scattering them everywhere. i managed to protect the cards but he is no longer allowed to participate in readings. ;)

I tried a reading for my cat the other day. It was quite cute .. the outcome that is.
We had switched her food from diet to regular, so we have been carefully measuring out her portions instead of just filling her bowl. The card that came up for her under concerns was her concern about her riches in life and how she needs to tighten her belt, so to speak.
It just seemed adorable.

That's exactly what came up for ours 2 years ago when we switched her food from free feed to controlled feeding with a diet food. Earthly concerns, worries, general doom & gloom. She got over it, but whenever she's miffed it REALLY shows up in her readings.

Well, Can't say I didn't try. I laid out the majors on the carpet and knelt down on the other side of them and... and... Sophie walked carefully around THEM, round ME (with a token "bump") and off to the remains of her DINNER! I might try with Jason who has rekindled his interest in e.g. watching TV - At the moment he is busy sleeping in his basket. But then they are pushing on 16 years :D
Thanks for the Smiles,
Macavity

Ahhh, I was waiting for the infamous mystery cat to respond to this post!!! First person I thought of when I saw the thread title.
"Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity
For he's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity." })

Ah Karen - that made me smile and think of my cat who trys to interupt my readings, just made me think actually, maybe he wants a reading? He is an Aries cat - thinks he is centre of the world
Your kitty is clever

How cute! Typical cat!
I remember this quote I heard once:
"Thousands of years ago, cats were worshiped as gods. They have never forgotten that."

Hi Khatruman (and everyone - and everycat),
Yes, the VR Strength does show a lion and maiden - actually, it's a really nice card. Also, I think it's true, my cat (Finn) has always known that he is the one with the real power in the household, but maybe he just wanted to remind me!
We are trying to decide whether to put him into the deck or not. All summer, every time we photographed anyone for our cards, he would suddenly appear and pose like an angel - right in front of the person we were focused on! He has even managed to get into a design magazine, as we were interviewed about our work and guess what - the minute the camera came out for a pic for the article, there he was in the middle of the shot! He has a real yen for stardom in spite of his humble background. He was found as a little black kitten abandoned in a field outside the city and homed with us by the wonderful women who run the cat home here - Czechs adore animals, which not many people realise - they are just great to their cats and dogs - the dogs always get served a nice fresh bowl of water in cafes!
Anyway, I know we in theory need a black cat for the Queen of Wands, but we have decided to use a marvelous statue of Libuse - the Celtic queen who founded Prague (she was a magician too - very strange and wonderful figure who many people say is mythical rather than factual) and she is with a bull (part of her story). How will it look to have a cat AND a bull on the card? I don't know (LOL) I guess we have to squeeze Finn in somewhere though, otherwise I'll never hear the end of it - and maybe he WILL start eating my cards (truthsayer, that made me laugh - was it really the 6 of birds?)
Karen
ps - what is it with cats and the tarot? I get the feeling that they both appeal to the same sort of people.

Well they like oracles too. The other night I was doing some exercises and had my faeries oracle spread out all over the living room floor ... and well ... it was way too much temptation for one of my cats. She came and walked right in the middle and started tromping on the cards. I moved her, she came back, moved her again, she came back again. Then I started picking the cards up (she had won) and well she decided she would love on them and started rubbing on them ... well what could I do then? ... I laid the cards back down and let her grovel in them. Seems like she has a good relationship with the faeries. My other cat, who knows he owns the Fairy Ring Oracle (he supervises all readings), joined her, but simply laid on the cards. Thank Goddess the dog stayed away, that is where I draw the line.
