Does anyone know where I could get a good quality pouch for a deck of Tarot cards.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!

Welcome to the forum!
You can always try Tarot Totes (www.tarottotes.com). Their bags are really nice, ang they have great prices. They are located in the US, but ship internationally, and are reletively fast.
I am also moving this thread to the Talking Tarot section, where it will surely get more hits. Tarot Book and Media is mostly for books, and software, plus, it is kinda slow there :)
Hope this helps!

cjtarot, one of our community memebers makes some gorgeous high quality velvet embossed bags, with lining. If you go to the US/Canada trade section and look for an old post of hers about bags to trade for decks she has a web link there. Tarot totes is also great!

Hi,
I have two more links for you, from people who make great bags and find international shipping no trouble at all:
I'm not too keen on the tarottotes bags. I prefer to get mine through 2 sellers I found on ebay (you need paypal, but that is easy if you have a credit card):
http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=40056796
She is a lovely person, and her bags are lovely, too. Quite large: a 'regular' one is easily big enough to fit the Victoria Regina. I don't think she has a lot of bags on ebay at the moment, but she said she would be putting up new stuff soon.
and

These bags tend to be smallish, which I like, because I prefer small decks. Also, very beautiful, very well made, and great service.
Hope these links work, if not, just do a search on ebay for 'tarot bag'.
I *love* the bags I got from these people.
:) Hedera.

Demonesse has silk bags for trade/sale in the international forum and Dakini has a variety for U.S. consumers as well.
Best wishes on your checking...

Erm, I forgot - I have a bag up for trade (or possibly sale) myself, in the worldwide forum.
It's quite large, bright green silk, as in Irish, emerald green, and on one side it has a very big, flower/flame-like design made out of (fake) pearls embroidered on it. Is also has two glass hearts on the double drawstring.
A great bag for a flamboyant, picky deck!

Just a question for all of you: Do I HAVE to store my cards in a silk pouche?
My books and cards came in as a kit, which is a nicely designed box allowing me to store my books and two decks of card. I got them last week and I didn't use anything else to store them.....
Thank you for the clarification.

Lol jean,
Of course you don't HAVE to use a silk pouch, although they ARE lovely (hehe, thank you for that plug Mari) - many people do, and many don't. You can use other types of bags, boxes, display baskets/shelves/cabinets, even the original box it came in. It all really depends on your personal preferences! For example, I have silks, silver-beaded elephant ones and gold-threaded traditional Asian ones, for example - you can check out my post and website at
http://www.geocities.com/tarotgollum/TarotBags.html
And you can get plenty of ideas from my old thread on deck storage here http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8183

Demonesse,
Thank you for showing me these beautiful pouches. They are really something unique. I guess for now I will use the box until my deck tells me that "I need a new home!!!" :P

My Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot is in a bag which I picked up at a "New-Age" shop in Sedona (AZ) along with one of my pendulums (the deck is actually kept in the original box, inside the bag). The rest of the Tarot decks I use on a regular basis are simply kept in their original boxes with a slight modification. As soon as I'm certain that I'll be keeping a deck I've acquired, I take clear packing tape and reinforce the box with it. This keeps the box from falling apart at the seams from use and handling.

Hi..
Yes I do sell and trade bags, Velvet ones that are embossed and then painted. They are lined in cotton (an all natural material) or all cotton... They have a double pull and the cording is wire wrapped for a neat touch.
If you want a silk or satin lining..it can be done..in fact I sew, so almost anything is possible..I'm currently making a purple cotton one for a friend with fringe....Have even done a few spread cloth bag sets...
Take a look see...

I can ship overseas, but I have to check the shipping rates...
AND...
Keep your bags in what ever you feel right about...I even have one in a Crown Royal bag...
Blessings,
Cj

CJ,
Since you sew perhaps you could help me out with a "special request".
I would like a "reading cloth" that would be about 19 or 20 inches square. I would like this cloth to have a "pocket" in one corner to store/place the cards in between readings. I would then like to be able to roll-up/wrap the cards in this cloth and have"ties" attached to the cloth so it can be secured. I would much rather have this "efficient" "pouch' for my favorite reading cards. it would make sense to me. Perhaps you could design. I think others would like this idea also. What do you think??
I've searched and searched the internet and have not been able to find this concept.
