Hiya All,
I'm moving to The Netherlands in the new few months and I would like to set myself as a pro reader. Does anyone know where I can start? taxes, best places to place ads, organisations etc.
Many thanks
Seb

I'd check if a license is needed if I were you... I'm not sure if that's neccesary, but still.
Where in The Netherlands are you moving to?
You should try and find some spiritual magazines to advertise in. Maybe some local newspapers.
Where do you want to give readings? On fairs, in cafes or such?
Keep me informed!

Check the Paraview website, they organise fairs all over the country. There's one every weekend (except during summer). You might want to participate in one of their fairs.
I don't know what sort of rules they have for participating though.
They also have a magazine, also called Paraview, where you could advertise, and they have an online directory on their website.
Another magazine you could advertise in is Spiegelbeeld.

That helped me a lot Tarotlady, although it wasn't my question ;).
Do you know of any more fairs around Rotterdam?

I just remembered another one: the Paranormaal Alternatief fair in Rijswijk. That one is supposed to be the biggest fair in the Netherlands.
I've never visited it myself though.
Is that close enough for you, Athara? ;)

Athara & Tarotlady Thanks for the info! (very helpful stuff) :D
The only thing is I don't speak any Dutch at the moment .......It's not as hard as I thought, very close to English and German.
I'm hoping to work from home in Rotterdam or Den Hag, when I've found a place.
I don't really like working in fairs, so I 'd be working at home to get the ball rolling, then move into a rented room somewhere.
Do you know the names of some spiritual magazines?
Is Tarot big in Holland? The reason why I ask is that I know in the UK people go to have readings most of the time and in France there's tons of ads in the local papers. I guess it all depends on where I am in the country.
Thanks a million
Seb

Even though most Dutch people understand English, most of them will still prefer a reading in Dutch. Being in a city like Rotterdam or Den Haag might help though, you will find more foreigners there who would prefer a reading in English. So you could aim for those until your Dutch is good enough.
Do you know the names of some spiritual magazines? See my first reply... ;)

I haven't got a clue really... ;) I don't think I've ever seen any big ads from tarot readers or psychics in a regular newspaper, but they might have a special section with small ads. I think most readers advertise in the specialised spiritual magazines.
There are also several spiritual shops that offer readings. I know one in Amsterdam that does, I don't know how they hire their readers.
Two shops you might want to try are De Kristallen Bol in Den Haag and Mystiek in Rotterdam. I haven't been to these shops, so I don't know whether they offer readings in the shop. But I guess it's worth checking them out, you may be able to advertise there or something.

The one in Amsterdam is called Himalaya. I recently visited it for the first time (with some other Aeclectic members ;) ) and I really liked it.
Apart from the shop there's a very nice cafe and they offer tarot and numerology readings.
