This was titled "Strange Tarot Wheel". It's about 17" in diameter. The person who sold it was doing so for friends who were disposing of some of their 'occult' possessions. They asked that only someone who could put it to its intended use and practiced the 'old religion' should bid. Well, I couldn't resist. I hope I'm worthy. Apparently, the wheel spins and you are supposed to let the crystal ball roll around, like a roulette wheel until it falls into one of 22 slots where a RWS card resides, painted or embedded in the wheel. A very unique divinatory device. Have any of you ever seen anything like it? I can't wait until it arrives.

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Please let us know how it arrives and what you think of it!

Here's another picture, a closer view of the crystal ball and the inlayed cards.

I have never heard of such a thing, but it sounds like it will be interesting to try out. Maybe you could send a picture of it to to the site after you get it. i, for one, would love to see what it looks like!

www.enchantedoak.com? I'll have to check out their site.
This truly is a wheel of fortune...
I think someone was creatively inspired and you were the lucky customer who had a great use for it.

It looks to me like someone has set out to duplicate the function of the old Transogram Ka-Bala game.
I still have the ever-seeking Eye of Zohar around here somewhere, all that remains of the set I owned back in the late Sixties.

The Tarot and Psychology book by Arthur Rosengarten mentions how he has a Wheel of Fortune with Tarot cards (I think the Majors only) in his office.
Not quite the same, but reminiscent.

Very cool. :smoker:
I can see it now. You take it to the fairground and begin your patter:
"Step right up folks. Round and round she goes. Where she stops nobody knows. Place your bets and find your fortune." })
I'd love to see this in operation.

Oh! It sounds interesting and great. A new knowledge for me again. Can you describe how to use this again in full details. I cant understand the previous post. Can we make the thingy ourself too? Or need to be bought, if so, where!? Hehe..=X I guess nobody know the answer.
Thanks for sharing with us! ^_^

An interesting piece of furniture. I do not think this has any special function. You have a tabletop for a fan of the occult. It looks like the cards were simply glued in a circle then varnished. A lead crystal ball (if unblemished quartz you have something) in the center is consistent with the theme.

...maybe, but what you perhaps cannot see are the slots along the perimeter that are definitely there to capture the ball. Also, the people who sold it didn't seem to be the curio types. Anyway, I still want it!
Wolfen045...the pictures are embedded in my two notes above.

The site carries a deck of wooden tarot cards, all majors, done up from various paintings (saw some Max Parrish in there). It looks like they're getting artist made stuff, one of a kinds, on some things--not mass market commercial items. They do say they take requests.

The site loads a bit slow though. Wait for it.
