Does anyone know what astrological information was given to The Fool, Judgement, and The Hanged Man before we discovered the last three planets?

I believe they were given elemental values: The Fool was Air or ether, Judgement was fire, and the Hanged Man was water.
I could be wrong, of course...

That is my understanding, too.

wait a sec, shouldn't there be 4 elements? We lost three of the old astrological signs but shouldn't there be one card devoted to earth? The obvious one would be the world and isn't that devoted to saturn?

Yes, the World was assigned to Earth and Saturn (both), as I understand it.

This thread got me curious, so I looked up Papus. Papus skirted around the old planet vs. new planet issue by assigning a constellation to each of the 22 major arcana. He used the 12 zodiacal constellations plus 10 circumpolar constellations.

How did they arrange it in this manners? I thought there are many many more planets other than the 9 main planets? Why arent the rest of the many many more planets used? ^_^

hi all--
the fool is associated with the Hebrew letter alph
the hanged man is associated with the Hebrew letter mem
judg(e)ment is associated with the Hebrew letter shin
these three letter are called the mother letter and are associated with air, water and fire in that order. Thus the cards associations...
Earth is sometimes dropped out because that's where we are viewing FROM. We don't observe our point of view...
hope this makes some sense
fly well
