What are your favorite Fool cards? My favorite Fool card has been the one from the Cosmic Tribe deck for some time, but I just received the Napo deck and I may rethink that. The Fool's head is a swirling mass of undifferentiated potential, with only the nose formed and sticking out (isn't smell supposed to be the oldest, most primal sense?). The Sun is blazing right behind his head and there is a flame coming from his head as though the Divine source were sending him off with a blazing inspiration (and perhaps addling his earthly senses- is that why his head's "in a whirl"?). He is about to step off the cliff into the jaws of a crocodile- but wait! He has spurs on his sandals and that croc. looks a little worried. Will the croc. bring the Fool down to earth with a bite of reality, or will the croc. discover that those who take a leap of faith aren't as foolish and vulnerable as they appear?
BTW, the description in the LWB is (IMHO) awful- one of the worst I've read. If you're a beginner and interested in this deck it is a Rider-Waite "clone" and I suggest studying it with one of the many books written for that deck and skipping this LWB altogether.

I really like the Golden Dawn Fool, which is odd considering that, while I like the deck and think it's very good, it's not the prettiest deck out there by any stretch...However, I love the idea of the Fool as a baby, with the wolf right next to him...reaching out to pick the rose...it's lovely.
My ex-girlfriend and I were also working on a deck, and I thought her Fool was amazing (It's also the only card we finished...). S/he (our Fool was androgynous) looked vaguely Arabian, a s/he was holding the wand carelessly, almost like a flute. The tiger was turned into a housecat, who was looking down uneasily. The bag at the end looked like an egg, and the figure was drawn on tracing paper, over a painting of gnarled thorn bushes, with an alligator hidden inside them. In the corner was the castle the Fool had come from, which we were going to use again as the Tower.
With the whole tracing paper thing, I had NO IDEA how we were going to make it into a card, but it was a beautiful picture.

My favourite The Fool is in Whimsical Tarot Deck. It looks cute, light-hearted and fun. And is rather accurate but just a little dog is missing.

i love the Gendron Fool. the Gendron Empress is another favorite.
i also love the simplicity of the Tarot Nova--the Fool and all the cards. the images are cute and whimsical, but they still manage to capture the essential meanings of the cards--brilliantly at times. funny how i love a deck like Gendron with all its complexity, but also a deck that's so simple!

Coldsun,
The Whimsical Tarot deck that I have does have a little dog on the Fool card. This web site has a picture of the Fool card on it.

Is this different than the Whimsical deck you have?

Unsurprisingly, the Thoth fool. Most other ones are too girly and cute. :P

My favorite is the Tarot of Dürer Fool, (Gaudenzi)
he has his naughty bits sticking out, as well as his tongue... it is really grotesque and funny.

I have to agree with Firemaiden. The durer is definately one of my favorites. I also like the Fool from mine and rhiannons deck..which you can find here www.tarot4pets.com click on the links page.
The quest deck has a great Fool also.

The fool of the phantasmagoric theater is my favorite. I like the fact that he wondering around the universe. Somehow him walking around in the dark makes sence to me and my interpretation of the fool

I would go with Red Riding Hood from the Inner Child Cards as the Fool. So many levels to delve into there....

jmd, yes! the Dürer Fool, but this card is the famous "fool with a tool'" that I was referring to before and must be the direct inspiration for that naughty Dürer Fool.
This Noblet fov, I was desperate to find again since you last posted it (on a Marseilles thread) when I asked about it some other time, you said it was the magician, not the fol, and so we were thrown off. But here it is, you have posted it, and I have saved it on my computer, and now its MINE.

I think the Magician which was being referred to is the one which well handles his wand - from the same deck:
