Well
In the tarot forum there has been a thread going on about Personality, Soul and Teacher cards, and withing the discussion the topic of Karmic Years came up and how the relate to this numbers.
Moongold adviced me to open up a new thread about them since I'm curious about it...
I'm basically in 0 here, feel free to correct me. From the calculation of ur Personality Card before you reduce the # u actually get a year and that IS ur karmic year.
according to Greer:
".......unfinished issues from the past that express soul themes come up in that year, giving you an opportunity to complete them, or at least recognise your task and begin that process.''
Can anyone illustrate me on the topic?

Just to add context to Indigo Lady's thread, there is a system called "Tarot Constellations" wherein you add your birthdate numbers up in a certain way and get a date from which you derive your Personality and Soul cards. The base number of this calculation also represents your karmic year. Mine was 1978 for example, and Indigo Lady has given Mary Greer's definition of karmic year. 1978 was a fairly major year for me, but I won't go into that now. In retrospect I think some karmic issues were resolved.
Indigo Lady's request possibly has a few aspects. One might be about the numerological basis for identifying the karmic year and another might be about what karma actually means and how it plays out in our lives.
Correct me if I'm wrong Indigo Lady.

WHOA! That means next year (2004) is my karmic year! I'm not sure whether to look forward to it or be forewarned! Maybe a bit of both?
Without delving into personal details, Moongold, was your karmic year a good one, or just one of major growth?
And for those who have experienced their karmic years, what were your experiences? I'm not asking folks to delve into personal details, but was there an overall theme?

Thanks Amyel,
I know little about Karma but perhaps people sharing their experience will shed light on the issues fo Indigo Lady.
I understand karma to be the outcome of thoughts and intentions. Like many kids I grew up feeling scared about most things, knew I was different in many ways (in my own family and community) but could make no sense of that. Felt isolated lonely, insecure, got very sick physically which exacerbated the whole situation and things got worse. Brave in lots of ways but all those negative qualities steering the ship too.
Things came to a head (or a nadir!) in 1977/78 and I was offered a new path. I'd been searching in a wild but genuine way and in October 78 I was able to take an opportunity for
some new directions. My life changed absolutely and I learned that essentially if you put in you take out too in peace and contentment.
I only found out about the karmic year last year and it seemed to fit. That year is also regarded in Mary Greer's system as my Tarot birthday which is nice.
The karma issue is interesting. I have to keep th energy flowing through. If I don't, I get sick and :(. Ultimately good comes from good intentions and action. I don't know whether the unhappy years were the consequence of past life stuff or whether my desperately genuine desire for change resulted in the opportunity that came. They both have aspects of Karma to them I think.

amyel, my karmic year would have been 1981. i would have just been settling into being on my own. (graduated high school in '79) in some ways i was in heaven. i was living theatre. i was doing what i really loved. this was my dream at the time. life was truly exciting. on the down side, i was also very hungry and life was real scary. i suppose in retrospect, it was a time of finding myself....living my dreams, believing in myself despite years of being told i was a dreamer and would never make it, and a year of facing the harshness of reality.

amyel,
1998 was my karmic year and in my case it was pretty life changing.. eyes wide opening
I moved away from home, met amounts of people in the most bizarre circumstances and reconnected with aspects of my life that until then I had shut out
It might not sound as much said that way, but too many things were brought together at that point
thus my interest in the relevance of the karmic year

Hmmm...I could be wrong, but it sounds like the karmic years described here happened when each of you were younger. I'll be 41 in my karmic year. It will be interesting to discover what opens up for me, what path my journey will take me on. Hey! there is something to look forward to in your 40's!!!!! ;D
So does everyone's karmic year occur in their lifetime? Is it possible for someone's karmic year to be set at, say 9876????

Moongold,
My karmic year was 1978 too! Of course, I was only 5...
But it was a drastic change. Up until then I lived with my grandparents, and when I was 5 I went to live with my mom and her 1st husband...very drastic change. I often thought that I've been depressed since I was 5, now maybe I know why.

That's a good question...
trying to use logic here, the possible bday with the highest number is dec 31st .. 31 + 12 = 43 .... doesn't really matter what year u were born, the oldest u can be at ur karmic year is 43 years old, thus it should always be attainable
so it seems pretty hard to get such a high number as the one u posted... but it can happen if lets say a person dies at a young age, before they reach their karmic year
again, I'm not quoting a book or anything here.. I'm just using a bit of good old fashion common sense

I only recently found out my Karmic year was in 1995. And, looking back, it was the most important, life changing year I've had in my life so far. I graduated college, got married and a vast multitude of both happy and sorrowfilled things happened that year. it was a very "full" year. It makes perfect sense to me that year would be called my "Karmic year" - in fact, if any other year had come up I would have been flummoxed as to why! :)

Here is the link to the discussion I'd started, not knowing that it was the same as this one (not knowing that there was a name for the "theory"; Karmic year): http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=151477#post151477
As you can see from the thread linked, 1998 was both my significant year and my husband's significant year... And our first child was born in Sept. (the 9th month)...

My karmic year was 1978 and was 17. A lot of very unhappy things were going on both at home and at school, but I took the G.E.D. test and left school that year and went to work at a restaurant. This put me in a healthier enviornment and was very empowering. So externally it was a "heavy emotional weather" year, but internally I gained a lot of strength.

Mine will be in 2006, hope it will bring something good... Cause i checked the karmic years on other members of my family and their karmic years werent nice at all: hurting experiencies that helped to grow, but painfully...
