cosmic tarot study

hi, i have been using marseilles deck for a few years (the only deck i have owned)- then after careful visual consideration, i bought the COSMIC TAROT DECK. i love it.

exploring imagery like this in tarot is a new thing for me. i have been joining in the journal study group - but it moves slow, and i am the only cosmic user. it does provide extra insight but i would like to study with a COSMIC USER.

im not sure about a study group - this is lengthy and requires alot of commitment - and tends to dwindle after a while.

********************************

i am keen to hear from anyone who would like to discuss the cosmic tarot on any angle - it need not be structured like a study group. we could just post as necessary.

i would like to meet those of you who activley use it - so i have a few COSMIC friends here on the forum to call on!!!!

Cosmic Tarot person here. Love to discuss it now and then, but like you, a study group can get too involved.

I'm good as long as I can keep it light.

LittleWing  14 May 2003
well thank you for coming forward divinerguy. actually it was partially through the advice you gave me in a previous post that pushed me to get this deck.

anyway - i will keep it neat - i will keep it in this thread. i think it can stay on this forum because it is NOT a study group.

well i dont know if you read in a previous post - that i am very drawn to the HERMIT - in a kind of familiar way. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF HIM?? i think we are very similar as i am a yogini, and like to take time out alone to organise and analyse things.

the hermit does not bring anyone in real life to my mind. WHAT ABOUT YOU? i almost want to keep him pure.

IS THERE A CARD THAT YOU WERE LIKE 'WOW' with recognition and love at first sight?????

also - i was wondering about the signifucance of the flamingo on THE STAR card

divinerguy  14 May 2003
I see the Hermit as being kinda shaman-like. With his long hair, and the zodaical symbols on his stole, he's got a religious thing working.

In a reading, for me, he tells me to take time to consider the more far-reaching ramifications of your actions. Think before you leap into something.

The Star, coincidentally, is my co-favorite, along with the High Preistess. The Star has a virginal innocence that I find full of hope, and honestly, a little erotic, but in a natural, loving way - not anything tawdry.

The HP, on the other hand, is not a woman to be messed with. She is a little scary, and knows everything. Probably one of the top ten best Tarot cards ever drawn.

According to Huets' book, the flamingo appears to trust the star-woman, so she considers it a symbol of trust. I personally see it more as peace or harmony with nature.

Okay - here's my question.

Both Temperance and Star cards have women pouring water by streams, both are lacking in clothing, and both cards have birds in them.

Is there a connection between the two? They both seem to have a "balance" thing working.

LittleWing  14 May 2003
the hermit is shaman like - very well put. he is a deep thinking man, but you can tell by his body that he is also physically strong.

i have not yet had much experience in reading with these cards yet. - but there are many i have fallen for - i will tell later.

visually the star and temperance are very similar. here are my thoughts - in temperance it is day, in the star it is night.

i think there is a naturally erotic quality to these cards because they are pouring water - which is very sensual (body fluids etc). smooth and flowing. water brings rejuvination.

they are both about hope. they are both scantily clad because they are not human - more angel/goddess/mermaid like.

i do not think they have connected meanings but these are my initial thoughts - more are likley to come to me so i will edit this post.

I`ve been considering buying this deck for a while. I`ve recently discovered that I prefer Thoth style decks. Does this deck follow the RWS meanings or Thoth?

love and light

pleased to meet you crystalmynx - a fellow brit!!

well im not sure what the answer to your question is - im not really into lots of different decks. but i do love the cosmic tarot. i am sure it would be best to get a deck that is similat to what you are used to - unless you want a complete change!!

hope someone can help you!!

I have noticed that the Star and Temperence have similarities. The true balance between the two is that one is in the day one is at night. Day and night balance can be found in the court cards as well.

a short list of similar courts.
prince of pentacles/prince of cups *day and night*
Queen of Cups/Queen of Wands *evening and morning*
Princess of Pentacles/Princess of Cups *midmorning and afternoon*
King of Cups/King of Wands *coming night and teh beginning day*
King of Swords/King of Pentacles *not sure but the king of pentacles is in a building while the king of swords is in the open*

I'm sure there are others but these are the ones that come to mind right away.

LittleWing  16 May 2003
who are you in the cosmic tarot. i decided today i am the girl in the 3 of cups. her position and look reminds me of myself.

i dont think she looks too intimate with the guy - they are doing a creative dance, and are in a relaxed posture, but as a couple they seem a little restless.

LittleWing  03 Jun 2003
posts about the cosmic tarot - are now being put up in the general study forum, as there are a few people discussing it now.

paradoxx  11 Jul 2003
I am literally the prince of cups and the prince of pentacles in this deck. I also have similar appearences to the man in the 9 of cups and even the heirophant. I've said this quite a bit so i'll stop now.
