Humor, is not to be taken lightly.
Being funny – is very serious business. Funny Tarot…
The Ator Tarot is done with a sense of humor.
90% of the folks here have a sense of humor. Some are even funny.
Whoops, here’s me bus…

I think people in general need to have a sense of humor, if they even expect to be taken seriously. Humor, which like Umbrae pointed out does not necessarily mean being taken lightly, is one of the cornerstones of learning and being human (wonders if Umbrae wants to start another rendition of "Fish Heads").
There is a reason it is called being "dead serious": life is pretty damn funny... if tarot reflects it... then it should be humorous also. Take a look at the Moon card in the Tarot of the Imagination.. it shows a butt :P

i get a kick out of fool cards that have the dog pulling the fool's pants down.
the medieval scapini deck manages to have a real sense of humor and incredible artwork at the same time!

Michelangelo Gaudio and Piero Alligo have a sense of humor. They did one of my favorite decks, Il Tarocco Fantastico; it's bizarre, brilliant (imho) and very funny. www.spiritone.com/~filipas/Masquerade/Reviews/fantastc.html The Magician has goat feet, is holding a glass of wine and has a very red nose plus a leer; across the bottom of the 5 of Wands, unheeded by the contestents, strides an imp, his work apparently done; and the Knight of Wands rides a horse with seven legs.
I also think it takes a sense of humor to do readings for yourself, as my readings, at least, frequently have a bit of barbed wit.

Indeed, courtesy of the incomprable rota. As much a gentleman in person as on the forums.
Now... everyone go out and buy his tarot! Hee hee!
