i've been interested with the tarot since i was in my mid teens because someone told me i was a natural but i never had the money to buy a deck nor the opportunity to pursue this interest.
now i'm 26 years old and finally started reading the tarot (just last month) because a friend of mine gave me a deck as a gift.
here in the philippines, earth elementals ("dwende" as we call them) are common occurences
at the same time i was practicing my long-awaited gift, a portion of our house was being renovated. A tree was upturned, and to make a long story short, a "dwende" started to make fun of my 1 year old daughter keeping her up from 1:30 to 4:00 AM for several days. my wife and i consulted a local magic woman for a solution and she told us that my tarot activities may have summoned the "dwende" (in addition to the upturned tree being the dwende's home).
i will appreciate similar experiences and advice how to avoid unwanted disturbances.
thanks in advance

That's a new one on me. Tarot bringing things out of the woodwork? Not in all the time I've used it. Though my cats like to lay near the cards when I do a spread--I can tell from how loud the purring is how accurate the reading will be.
Maybe it was just circumstantial? Have you tried doing a protective circle around the house?

Jog, here it is:

Go down to the 'basic skills' section and read the part on shielding. Anyone can shield, it draws from your own internal power. You put it around the house. It works around a car too, if you don't want it bothered in the parking lot, or around yourself if you're walking in a dangerous area at night. Or whatever you need protected--children, pets, etc.
Visualize a glowing field of energy around your home, top to bottom on the outside and anything inside will be protected. You can redo the shield every few days, or once a week. All you do is think it in place with a force of energy behind it from you. It's a protective shielding and it does work very well. The site above has one of the best descriptions for people to understand the process that I've come across.

I don't know, I've never experienced anything like this with Tarot. Occasionally I've had a spirit or two come through (which was related to the querent) but nothing bad or anything. I don't know, I can't say it couldn't have opened the door for something to come through, it is possible, but just really unlikely, or rare.

I can't say I've ever had elemental invasions or any other invasion.
There is one other alternative, and thats your magic woman doesn't like the idea of anyone having knowledge or understanding apart from her?
I mean, is it possible that she may think you will do her out of some business if you learn tarot?
Just some thoughts that spring to mind......

Hate to say this, but the witch woman is scamming for more peso’s.
Tarot, and its use do not summon, conjure, or attract spirits (good or evil).
They (Tarot) are keys. Nothing more, nothing less…however in your mind, your soul…are doors which perhaps you’d best not open…As Tarotbear used to say, “Do not open doors you don’t know how to close”.
You did not state if there are older children in the house (my gut says yes).
I would look elsewhere – and not blame tarot.

I'm with most of the people here......Tarot really had nothing to do with your current situation.
Everyone wants to find a "reason" for an event, something to blame.
Let me tell ya'll that I have had a very bad experience with "elementals".
I would have never believed that there are such 'spirits" as elementals, who by the way, are not nice little Fairey Folk.
We were trying to sell our house. It had become the "Christine" house for us. Everytime we went out of town, it seemed the house got angry at us for leaving. I know.....this sounds so strange, but sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.....
Anyway, everytime we would come home within a few days we would be faced with a "water issue" somewhere. These were NOT small situations....more like $2000.00 repair-type bills! It was the roof on 2 different sides of the house. After a new roof, more leaks, after another out-of-town. Then we almost had the house sold twice and at the last minute the peoople backed out. The second time we had moved to accomodate their time frame. Now we had two house payments.
These elementals were causing problems, but we couldn't figure it out.
We had had several "house-cleanings", protection circles, shieldings, done by us and others. It was only after we had a friend who is psychic come in and told us that she had not encoutered elementals like the ones surrounding our home since she was a little girl.
They were in the house, which rid, and a lot of them outside. Here comes the part that may make me sound like a psycho, but if it can help someone else, I'll spout.....
These elementals live by their own set of rules. In causing the water damage they got our attention, just like bad kids. They had lived in the beautiful gardens around that home and loved us and did not want us to leave.......Yea, stange way to show affection. But there appears to be a heirarcy among them, almost like a fairy tale.....and they were very stubborn about us leaving and wanted the psychic friend to tell them where we were going so they could come along......ugh.....No-o-o-o
She was very stern with them and told them they had to get our, They hate bells, she gave them one night time to leave, the next morning I walked the perimeter of that property gonging the tibetian bells, yelling "get out", watching my neighbor, watching me, thinking I was psycho......BUT IT WORKED. We sold the house and this one went through!
The moral of this story - and my suggestion, is find another tree for this elemental or forceably evict him from your property. Everyone can use bells and yell "get out - go away".
It's worth a try.
This event made a believer out of me! Good luck on your excorcism!!

Gonna agree with the previous two. The tarot is no more likely to draw spirits than your socket wrench or Phillips head screwdriver.
This woman is threatened by you coming into her "turf" with your own tools and is trying to blame random supernatural occurances on your tools.

I don't believe that tarot is the cause but I think this dwende could be attracted by the pyschic energies that you're expending. Doing a shielding like the others suggested is a good idea.

Can you provide a new (and better) home for the dwende?
Think about how you'd feel if someone came and uprooted your house....... :(
Ask him/her what it would like to live in.... a garden, a little house, a new tree (smaller, of course), maybe a pretty bush.
I'm sure the elemental is also disturbed about the tree itself, it may be related somehow to the tree spirit.
Honor the ground, honor the tree, honor the elemental.... do so and the elemental will probably become a good 'neighbor' for you.
Also, check out Ted Andrews' books, specifically the one on Faerie Realms. Elementals are very real. I think it's grand that you live in a land that knows this. However, the woman you consulted doesn't seem to know them well..... there have to be ways to work with them... Tarot has very little to do with the dwende's concerns. He/she is all about the home and the tree right now. 'Course, if you were using the tree to make paper to make Tarot cards, then the dwende might not be too fond of Tarot......:)

So they left and you moved...
this might sound like a weird question, but out of curiousity, where do you think they went to???

I don't know anything about elementals (or even much about tarot) but I am very much so a live and let live kind of person, and I really hope that this dwende doesn't get to the point of exorcism. I feel sorry for it. I like skytwig's idea though. I'd try to give it a really nice home so it'd be a nice dwende. (that sounded way too much like a child said that) um... yeah. that's my little opinion.
