i'm curious to know how many people use tarot to:

*predict the future

*just to meditate

*psycological ade

*in some compleatly different way

or all of the above.

Definately all of the above. How do you use it?

all the above
and for inspiration ... most of the decks i have, have beautyful artwork that sometimes inspires me to paint or draw something ( not that i ever top the art on the cards ;) )

And i also use the cards for storytelling, spells and as a starting point for creative visualizations.

To get advice. And just for fun. Never take anything too seriously (including yourself :D ) ... ;)

All of the above. :)

i use it to "try" to tell the future, but it usualy ends up being more of a meditation on present dificultys and psycological ade. the future part usualy ends up being less important.
kinde of like favorable or negative outcomes depending on weather you continue acting in the same way or if you take charge and start chainging things.

also atitudes to adopt in different situations.

I like to use the tarot primarily for reflecting the energy of NOW back to me. For clarity. More to see where I'm headed because of where I am.

Another very important use of the tarot for me is for connecting to the divine. For guidance.

And also (guess this is getting into the spell area) for summoning a particular energy. I'll use the Sun card in the center of my altar when I'm beginning to feel like a cold, wet frog from all the rain and fog of the maritimes. Or I'll use the Ace or Queen of Swords as part of an athame consecration ritual...

Well, BoomVoom - from your subject line I suspected perhaps you'd gotten frustrated with a card or deck and gave them a pitch (Yelling, "Fore" right before the fateful deed) ! But, bad golf puns notwithstanding, here is how I see my relationship with Tarot...

Tarot is my friend. It is patient with me, and I with it. Although it seems to always understand me, I won't pretend to always understand it.

1) Predict the future

*Through readings I'm presented with the opportunity to perhaps comprehend where things MAY be going.

I wouldn't call this prediction, but more akin to the "Ghost of Christmas yet to come" scenario; i.e. shadows of things which MAY be.

2)Meditate

*Tarot has never been the focus of meditation for me.

My spirituality has concerned me with many varied and abundant means of meditation as a result of daily workings. I've done some of my best "Magic" (if you would) while performing some of the most mundane tasks such as washing dishes, yard work, etc. Consequently, I've never persued Tarot as a tool for meditation, although that end has occurred to me.

3)Psychological aide

*By all means - I would think that since most people use cards for reading - either for themselves or others, that this is in and of itself is a psychological aide (although reading for others may tend towards being an aide for the seeker rather than the reader). Certainly meditation would qualify as a psychological aide wouldn't it?

At any rate, I've squandered more than enough space with my meanderings. Let the "pips" fall where they may!

Yep... I'd say "all the above" as well. Others have layed out details to which I can't really add much. But, I agree with and have used the Tarot for, most of what the others have already posted.

Yes, pretty much "all of the above"...
I have a few personal decks--one I use for readings, the other for meditation, a third is a majors-only deck I carry in my bag.
I have about five "favorite decks" that I use to read for others.
And finally, I always have at least one deck around that I'm studying; it's usually a RWS, Thoth or historical deck.
One "completely different way" that I've used tarot is as a writing tool, such as for building stories. I do this whenever I experience writers' block. It works especially well for me with fantasy-themed tarot or divination decks.

Yup, all of the above!
