I read something very interesting a while ago that keeps bugging me.
It was about a very inept reader who gave their sitter a REALLY bad interpretation. Not only from the perspective of cards, but also from the perspective of advice.
I felt sick to my stomach that people like that are allowed to prey on the unsuspecting, vunerable public.
My immediate reaction was to get on to that magazine and tell them that their reader was inept and totally irresponsible, and probably a few bricks short of a load.
I never did, as I was convinced by a friend that the magazine was just whooping it into sensationalism.... but what if it WASN'T.
What would you have done?
What would you do if you came across a totally inept reader giving really bad advice?
What is your ethics...not your problem? Have to help else my Karma will be tainted?
Let me know
A

I ran across that once with someone at work--he said he'd told someone he saw an abortion in her future. I asked what cards he'd drawn. He said the Sun and the 6 of Cups. At the time I didn't know tarot, but had heard the Sun was a good card so I was really doubtful about his interpretation but didn't say anything. Now I know he was way wrong.
Speak up. If you know something doesn't sit right, yell to the editor, via email or letter. Even if all you say is 'hey, that's not right!'.

My dear allibee: Next time get that letter out immediately. You may find yourself landed with the job of Tarot reader at the magazine.
Of course, it would also be useful to add your reading to the letter, so that the editor will realise the difference between a fake reading and a real one. Maybe he really doesn't know.

Oh yes... allibee... definitely have to agree with Diana here (guess that's not a big surprise... I don't argue with her very often at all... ;) ). But its definitely not too late... get out your quill, parchment and sealing wax... no... wait... that was from a previous life I think. Well you know what I mean...

Gosh!
A tarot writer for a magazine?!? Hmmm. What would you write about?
Pick readings out from a contest? Readers questions?
Weekly forecasts by soul card? })
What magazines would buy this sort of thing? Go on - tell us where you saw this... ;)

What? You mean there isn't room in this town for both of us and more?

Failure to write, is tacit approval.
But then again – which one of us has never made a serious error. The answer is, only those who have never walked or talked.
Don’t hang a person for one transgression…look for a pattern.

I agree with Umbrae, one mistake isn't necessarily a reason to discredit someone. I admit, I don't know how seriously "off" this was, as we can't really form an opinion without reading it. A pattern of mistakes and misleading advice, that's another story.
If we read by intuition, not by the book, our interpretations would naturally vary.
