I had this experience lately when i was doing an online reading for a friend:
i did the spread one night but was'nt able to read thoroughly because my 1 and 1/2 year old daughter woke up and i had to put her back to sleep...so i saved the cards and their positions in my cellphone.
the day after, i polished my reading via my cellphone and as i was typing my reading, i realized that i failed to draw the final card of the spread...so i decided, what the heck!, to draw the final card. i continued typing my reading and never got the chance to tell my friend (who, by the way, knows tarot too) the special case of her reading.
her feedback came and...WOW!!!...by her reactions, i realized that my reading turned out...well, VERY GOOD.
anyone here in AT had a similar experience??? i'm very curious...

I will often do the spread one day, and then leave the actual interpretation until the next day. Sometimes I jot down in my Tarot journal what the card positions are, and other times I simply leave the cards out on the table.
I find it very difficult sometimes to go straight into the interpretation, though this only happens if I am reading either for myself, or for others if they are not present. If I am reading for a person face to face I'm okay though.
I have never found any difference in the accuracy of my readings depending on whether I leave them until another day or not.
So for me, a reading can take a few days! :D

I do that often too. I find that I'm more accurate that way. I tend to draw the cards the night before, make a note of them in my journal and think about them all the next day. Sometimes my first impressions are not always the accurate ones. This gives me time to follow through on a particular train of thought.

I memorize the spreads and mull them over in the shower. The only place in the house where all useful editing and pondering gets done...

If I manage to get to my creek when its not flooded or overrun with mosquitos (I miss winter) my readings seem to come out much better!

I'm Totally opposite...
Usually I try to set aside enough time to do it, type it, and post/send it all at once. It just bugs me havin somethin half done. But...I see why that might be useful. I oughtta try it again and see if maybe my short attention span can be expanded.

I must admit to being bugged by having things half-done lying around, but these days whist I may be able to leave myself the time to do the whole thing, I often don't have the energy. If I run out of energy halfway through the reading, and try to continue with it, I either end up rushing it or not seeing what's really there. So, I take a break, grab something to eat, maybe sleep a little, or read a book, etc... Something relaxing just to get rid of the fuzziness in my head.
Plus it also looks good to have a Tarot spread on the table when you walk into the room later on. Makes me feel happy. :D (Everybody groans and thinks 'Kiama, you're sad...' ;))

No Kiama I'm not groaning at you! :) I'll admit I do take alil food break when I'm stuck...or an AECT break depending. But I guess I'm pretty good at focusing at Tarot (now if I only I could do that with everything else in life). ::shrugs::
