How did you Find Aeclectic Tarot?

If we believe that all things are possible, this forum has to exist. We're just lucky enough to have stumbled upon it....

Which brings a question to mind. I found this forum 'accidently'. I was looking for a review on a deck-- I forget which one-- and got directed here. Instead of selecting the deck choise, I 'accidently' hit the forum button.

That's how I got here.

How did you find here? Accident? Design? just curious....

I found this wonderful site with full intention. I like forums, but only if they're good ones. And, one day in early August last year, I had a little more time on my hands during teh baby's nap and typed in a Google search with "Tarot Forum" in it.

Voila! Or should I say, voici!

And, I haven't left since. As I mentioned in another thread about how peaceful a site this is, it was the manner in which people spoke to each other, intellectually, that made all the difference to me. In such a vein, *tremendous* things can happen.

Synchronicities beyond compare abound on the net. It reminds me of the quality of ether, the fifth element, that of the cosmos. There are fewer "accidents" on the net than there are in real life, if that is possible ... but of that, I am certain. So I totally relate to your connections, your "accidents," Ravenswing.

Random connections will change your life. This place has brought me wisdom, laughter, knowledge, companionship and more. Much more :).

By accident.

I had spend weeks looking through Danish tarot sites, which to my disappointment was all about making money.

Did a google search and aecelctic was oné of the options I got, had seen the name many times before, but as it was about deck reviews I didn't give it the credit to visit - Iam no deck-oholic.

One day in dispair of the quality of tarot sites I took my chances with aeclectic, now I have been here since october 2000 and I am not going anywhere else :)

...also with google.com's help.
I was looking to buy a deck as a gift for a friend (Visconti-Sforza) and found this site by accident. I found this site and got absorbed in reading the posts. I had used my own deck very rarely in the past 15+ years and had no idea how much new information and how many new decks were available.
This forum is responsible for rekindling my love for the cards. And the time was right in my life and working with them again felt like getting reacquainted with an old friend.

Good topic, Ravenswing...
I, too, found AT "by accident," so to speak.
I was searching for information/perspectives on death about four years years ago. The Death Card of the tarot came up in an article about death and different religious beliefs. The article was on a Christian website, and the Death Card pictured was from the Marseille deck, with a caption about the occult. I was intrigued with that picture. I looked up "Marseille Tarot" and found numerous sites on tarot cards, including this one. I lurked on the forum for a few months, then I joined.

Well, I also discovered this by accident, sort of. You see, I started reading tarot about 6 years ago, but after two years or so, I stopped. I don't know why, but slowly started to read less and less and finally stopped. Then, last year I thought I'd give it a try again (don't remember now what made the spark), and since I don't have many books (the one I have is terrible) and because I had a lot of doubts on my mind concerning tarot "superstitions/rules" I did a search on google... and found aeclectic.

I was astonished by the many images of decks available, and then "what's that forum thing? hummm, sounds interesting." and I could never leave aeclectic again (plus the fact that I already bought more 5 decks).

I have no idea. I onl know I have been here a looong time. I know I found the site with the reviews sometime around -99
and I seem to remember I was to the forum before august 2001 - which is the date by my user-name.

Emily  02 Jul 2003
I think I found this site through Joan Bunnings Learn Tarot site. I remember the forum before the two changes but I never joined just used to read, then after the second change I joined. It was much too interesting a forum to just stay on the sidelines, and it still is :)

Like Ravenswing, I was looking for a deck review. I like to read several reviews of the same deck, so I Googled the cards and consistently found that Aeclectic not only featured useful reviews of many decks (with excellent scans), but was visually attractive, enormously well organized and implemented, and the tone of the discussions was thoughtful and serious. I was, and remain, impressed with Aeclectic.

Gerbear  02 Jul 2003
A friend directed me to Tarot Passages, and while there I checked their links and saw Aeclectic. I came, I saw, and I was conquered.
Lurked for about a month, and then jumped right in.

Ruby7  02 Jul 2003
I found the site by accident. I was doing search on Google, looking for tarot reviews. I visited the Tarot Review section for a couple of weeks before I even noticed there was a forum section. So happy I found the forum, Ruby7

i found this site by accident too. i was doing a search on tarot reviews... however, what is funny... i found this site a long time ago.. and until last month, i never even realized it had a forum... i wish i had discovered that fact earlier as its been quite fun and helpful!

SingingTarot  02 Jul 2003
Thank you google!
Same for me, doing a general search on Tarot, and I stumbled on Aeclectic by "accident".
I saw there was a forum section, I decided to check it out; when I saw the amount of information here, my jaw just hit the floor and I joined that very minute.

Strictly good fortune here as well. I simply did a search for "Tarot" on MetaCrawler.com. One of the links it brought up was Aeclectic Tarot Forums... the spelling of the first word kind of caught my eye. ;) I had to check that out! Been here ever since... So, you can blame my presence on MetaCrawler.com. :D

I found this site due to my ultra cool big sis telling me about it. ;) (to Alissa)!

Alissa is my big sis, and shortly after she found this site, she decided she wanted a few other tarot decks. Since I began reading, I always KNEW that the Robin Wood deck would be PERFECT for her! So I got her that deck for her birthday. Well, she found out that I didn't have a deck to read with anymore (well, not really, I had the LOTR deck, but I didn't like using it) so for my bday she got me a tarot deck as well. Told me about this awesome cool site. At first I was all "yeah yeah, but if it gives me a means to talk to you more, then cool" but honestly (at first) I really wasn't interested in the rest of it, only talking to my sis through the chat here. Well, I started getting bored waiting around to see if she would come on, or after she would leave, I got bored. So I started having a looksie, and WOW, I feel in LOVE with the site. Been here ever since, and don't plan on goin anywhere anytime soon! Thank you so much Alissa ((((((Alissa))))) love you bunches forever!

I found it doing a search on Google too. Needed to find a good tarot forum and the ones i came across first in spanish were crappy. I joined after reading a few posts, when usually it takes me more time to join a forum... And im very happy about having found it!!

jog1118  03 Jul 2003

About eighteen months ago I was coming to towards the end of an Astrology course and signed on for the next one. As part of a resign deal I got a free course and decided to do Tarot - which I had tried a couple of times before but not got very far at all.

So I signed up the lessons rolled in and I needed to do an internet search for Tarot sites - and amongst many others I came across this one. I didn't join straight away but when I was looking for possible answers to questions I decided to do a search of threads here. One thing led to another and here I am.

firemaiden  03 Jul 2003
Finding this site for me was the side-effect of tarot-deck addiction, I was slurping and drooling over all the decks reviewed and their pictures...

Red Emma  03 Jul 2003
I first was drawn to it, umpty ump years ago, because I'd check out tarot decks before buying them. If I remember right, at that time it only listed the decks. Then one day when I signed on to check out a deck I was considering, Shape shifters, there were choices galore about exploring tarot, and chatting with other tarot-holics. It's become a whole other world for me. The kind of a world that web-chat sites should be, but almost never are.

Every day I think very kind thoughts about Solandia. And wish there were dozens and dozens of web masters like her.

(Alissa laughs and punches her sis in the arm lightly). You're WELCOME! :D I only kept telling you about it cuz I knew you'd like it here once you showed up.

And you better knock it off, or people will think you like me or something.

p.s. it was the Legend Arthur deck, not the Robin Wood. ;)

My friend ametrin told me about this forum. First I was hooked, then I was away for a while and know I'm more relaxed.

I like this forum a lot!

What is funny is that ametrin is no longer using the forum so much, but I've become a regular here (soon my own avatar.....soon.....) :D

It's all about synchronity.

:)

It was serendipitous. I just wandered in.

I stayed at first because I liked the color scheme. Then I stayed for real because it's a goldmine of opinions and information.

I found Aeclectic by "accident", & it had to have been in 1999, when I got my computer.

Did a search on Tarot because I was looking for books. Realized the only books I had on Tarot were awfully dry (Arthur Waite's for the Rider-Waite Tarot & Eden Grey's on the same deck); did not appeal as reading material & I had the vague notion maybe I needed to read & study instead of making up my own meanings. Eyes spotted "Aeclectic Tarot" & was attracted to the spelling. For a while I only perused the deck directory. I was fascinated by the variety; had no idea there were so many decks since I had only seen one deck, which was the Rider Waite purchased when I was 19. There was also a section on sacred sites that I loved. I assume it was eventually dropped to concentrate on expanding the Tarot material.

Then one day, I inadvertently clicked on a link & found the forum. It was very basic; I recall black print on a white background. I think there was only one forum, Talking Tarot. I lurked for a while, fascinated all over again that folks actually discussed Tarot online! I finally got the courage to register as a member when I itched to post. The rest is history. I saw it develop in stages, as one & then another forum was added. There were at least 3 forum crashes that lost data. There was a core group of members. They are nearly all gone now but I have fond & wonderful memories of them all.

Btw: I appreciate Waite's book now.

LadyMedusa  04 Jul 2003
I stumbled upon the chatroom first. Based on the wonderful chats I had with about 3-4 of the members, I followed their invitation to have a look around the forum. I was totally amazed by the volumes of information to be found here and all the wonderful people. After reading a couple of Thirteens lessons, I knew I had to at least try the 3 month sub to give time for a full look around. I recently signed on for the year!

skysilver  04 Jul 2003
I found this forum by accident.

I was looking around for reviews on tarot cards.

I have visited this site many times before I joined. One day, just recently, I jumped on the band wagon. I am happy that I did. :CL :CL :CL :)

wavebreaker  04 Jul 2003
I found the deck reviews while browsing the internet and came back to them now and then to look for decks. It wasn't until after several visits that I realised there was also a forum, and since I didn't know anyone else IRL who was interested in tarot I registered right away, so I could finally talk about it and learn a bit more about it... ;)

WolfSpirit  04 Jul 2003
When I started studying tarot again - after an unsuccessful beginning and a long period of nothing doing anything about it - I decided it would be easier for me to study if I could find some more people interested in tarot. The first thing I saw on this site were all the decks - wow, I never knew there were so many. But I then thought this was a partly commercial site, like amazon but with a bit of reviews as well to give it a more serious touch.

But, like all of you I stumbled on the forum and I have not really left since, apart from a few short breaks.
Before this forum, I was reading a newsgroup but I never felt comfortable there, there were many people only there to make fun of others with their "witty" remarks :(

punkangelgcm437  05 Jul 2003
I found AECT (like my name for it :)) by none other than *Google*. Bless google.

I had decided to pick up my tarot once again...except I knew I wanted to stick with it. I had been doing it off and on for like...2 years maybe but never REALLY committed to it. Whenever the cards gave me a bad reading or told me bad things...I'd get mad and just put them in a box. Turns out that probably made them even madder.

So one day during Spring Break...I was bored and decided to do a tarot search. Dont remember what I typed in, but AECT was on the list. Probably even second page. Got on the front page and wondered "Hmm...whats a forum?". Looked at it for a few days...and now here I am. Stuck for good and never wanna leave. I was so happy to find such sweet, smart, helpful people. ::hugs to everyone::

~Much Love~

I found it through an Internet search as well. The colour scheme is peaceful. I remember thinking the different shades of purple and the gold were quite beautiful.

And then I started to read the posts. They were interesting and welcoming. There was another site which seened to depend on people knowing each other but this was not like that.

I joined and asked a simple question and got an almost immediate response, and was hooked.

Mimers  05 Jul 2003
I found Aeclectic through Tarot Passages.

I was actually browsing this site for months when I finally realized it had a forum! I had never been involved with any type of online forum before, so I just kind of looked around. I joined within a few days, and within a month or so, upgraded my membership. I knew I wasn't going to get bored here and so many wonderful people!
