is it true that someone has to buy your first deck of tarot cards for the cards to work?

Absolutely not. Why would it? As a matter of fact, I think it is better to buy your own. This way you can pick out the deck that you prefer most. I have received decks as gifts though, and that does make them special to me.

No, not true at all ;) As much as I would like someone to, no-one has ever bought me a deck. Mine have all been purchased by moiself! And they work good :) C

Same for me, I have always bought my own cards, but would absolutely love it if someone bought me a deck:) I think it is best to pick your own deck, then you can choose one that appeals to you, Ruby7

There are lots of views regarding the cards which are not necessarily true. I have bought nearly all of my decks and as others I have had bought are only special because of the person that bought them for me. I have a good relationship with all the others, if not better, in some cases. If someone is going to buy you a deck ... then you are very lucky. However, that has more to do with the fact that its not your bank balance that has been 'attacked' (again) - taroholics here will relate to that! Best wishes yaboot

I think we've had several threads on this subject. It seems that that is a popular rumor that we have no Idea where It came from. Though if someone did buy you a deck then I'd keep that friend close - like on a leash in the front yard.
