Stella Maris

OK so its not EXACTLY about tarot cards (even though i do relate it to the star card) i cant seem to find information on her anywhere on the net. My question is who is she? what is her history? is she a mythological character or is it just a name given to a variety of goddesses? any information would be welcome. thanks.
