Hello! I've seen on other tarot sites that they have a holiday exchange. Everyone that wants to participate sends names to the moderator and then names are exchanged. Only the moderater has everyones names, addresses and wishlists and then gives it to the person who receives your name. Everyone is supposed to get a deck for the the person on their list with about the same dollar limit (ex. $20). The names are exchanged with someone from your own country as to keep shipping down. Before the holidays arrive you mail the package wrapped to the person you are supposed to and they have to wait till a certain day before everyone all opens them together in a chat forum. I've never participated in one but had heard of them and was just wondering if there is one here at Aeclectic. I think that everyone lists about 5 decks of agreed upon amount and then the person chooses which one they want to get the person, that way the person is getting one they don't have and want.
The only setback I could see on doing one of these is it could affect your real holiday deck wishlist that you might give to family and friends. You'd have to make sure you didn't lists the one of the list because you might then get a double! :)
Blessings,

party pooper here.... I never enjoy these kinds of exchanges. Its like "secret santa" -- at best it is embarassing and at worst, somebody gets hurt.

I've never done a holiday exchange on a site before but I've heard of them. I was just wondering if there has ever been one done here at Aeclectic.

on the exchange, but as the replies went, not one of these collectors thought the postage cost was worth the expense.
I think the cost of such postage and the fact everyone has a certain wishlist. Sometimes this is the one area that we prefer to pick and choose. For individual reasons, I don't treat tarot decks like other pop culture 'books' or 'card games'
I'm just reporting what I've seen. I could be wrong, but I'm not inclined to do this myself.
Best wishes,

Hi Everyone
I have done this at other tarot groups for the past two years running and we had a TON OF FUN :) Some people hand made tarot items such as bags and spread cloths some people made ornaments and sent crystals and jewelry, and lots of other fun items. One year I got the neat Symbolin deck and last year I got the Gill deck and about 20 spell candles in different colors from my secret santa. I can tell you it was really exciting to see when the person you sent to opens there item!

I have a friend that belongs to another forum (non-tarot) and they do stuff like this a lot... seems they, too , have a ton of fun...
I think they make participants have a certain number of posts or have been a member for a certain period of time - to keep it safe...
.. i think i would be up for it too - if its gonna happen :o)

I have done quite a bit of "swapping" over the internet by now and I have never been disappointed!! I always love getting something for someone and it's great to receive a surprise in the mail!

I would be willing to participate. It could be surprising and interesting to give and to receive BUT mostly to enjoy the responses posted on this thread. Dave.
