To calculate your current year card take your birth date (dd/MM) and add it to the current year (yyyy).
For example if your birthday is May 5th you would:-
05+05+2003= 10+2003=2013
Then add the final number until you reach a number between 1 and 22.
So 2013=2+0+1+3=6
Current year card is 6 The Lovers
1. What is your current year card?
2. How has it related to the year thus far?
3. Which deck is your primary deck?
4. What details of this card have been most influential in the year so far?

my bday is 11/18/1976 (in case AT wants to give me a bday gift...a deck or two perhaps :D
my year card: chariot
relation to current year:
i'm considering an overseas job (due to financial problems and lack of opportunities where i live). this means i may leave behind my wife and daughter. these (the job and my family) are the horses which i (the charioteer) have to take full control in order for me to progress
my primary deck:
tarot of the hidden folk
card details:
coincidental with sacrifices i have to make re my overseas job, the chariot in my deck presents a dwarf (or goblin or elf; can't distinguish...) driving a wooden chariot pulled by a rabbit...(here's the stunning coincidence)
at the back of the chariot sits a lady dwarf/goblin/elf at the verge of falling off; the charioteer seems to be unaware or neglecting his partner's (i suppose) danger. i see this as a representation of me leaving my family in order to get a good job overseas
TAROT AMAZES ME AGAIN!!!

Hey MystiqueMoonlight,
thanks for the post - this one really does make me think about ME
by your calculations my card is 12 the hanged man
and from first impressions (& 78 degrees interpretations) I feel very much reversed
the tranqility of reflection is entirely evading me
I know I owe myself some time to be still but pressures seem endless struggle constant
I definitely feel a tugging a need for some change
I'm almost tempted to sneak down to the local playground and try to emulate him literally just to see if I can catch a glimpse of some new path
Now I'm just going to have to do a "what now" spread
Bless you I needed that

An interesting note here for you is that this year your Soul card is the same as your current year card.
My current year card is XI Strength (Marseilles) or Hermit XI (Minchiate Etruria).
I can actually relate to both of these

1. My current year card is the Wheel of Fortune
2. The Wheel couldn't be anymore accurate for me this year. Since the first of the year it has been nothing but constant ups and downs, highs and lows, change for the better then change for the worse. It's just turned again recently to a low point and I'm sure it won't be long before it comes around again.

Well, my birthday is 17th July 1984, so this year's card is 11: Either Strength or Justice.
I can relate to both of these, especially if I look at Justice from Crowley's point of view: Adjustment. This year was my first year at Uni, my first year living away from parents, and my first year living with my boyfriend... I had to adjust alot and quickly just in order to live properly and get through my first year of the degree. Strength, I am also looking at from Crowley's point of view, in that it represents Babylon.
Now, this is not saying I've become a Scarlet Woman in the last year! To me, the Whore of Babylon represents a woman becoming fully aware of, and happy with, herself. This year for me has so far seen the loss of social phobia, a couple of fears which were holding me back, and an acceptance of myself for myself.
But, hang on... Does this mean that next year my card will be the Hanged Man??!!! Uh-oh....

My Birthday is March 5th. That will give a 4 - The Emperor.
The deck a use most is Robin Wood.
I'm really having trouble with this because I do not see the relation to me. I mean I could stretch it, but it really isn't working, lol.
To me the Emperor card represents an aggressive man, usually contolling. A father figure... secure, successful... you get the picture.
Anyway, this year my father (& mother) moved 1200 miles away. My husband and I just started a new business.
I was ill at the beginning of the year, but I was diagnosed, and now i'm almost 100%. STRETCHING here.... Emperor - doctor??
See, I told ya it was a stretch!!!! LOL
Any help???
Maybe it's The Emperor RX - HEHEHE!!

carrielynnsim: The Emperor can also be seen as foundations and business, a business man... Maybe this applies more to your year?

AHHHH... that could be it!
Hopefully by the end of the year we will be financially stable..
I can see it now!
K... what deck do you use? I'm gonna check the posts in case you've already revealed that and I missed it.
Thanks, Carrie

I mainly use the Robin Wood, but when I think of Justice and Strength, in my mind I imagine the Thoth decks' Justice/Adjustment and Strength/Lust.
When I look at the Emperor in the Robin Wood deck, I see an assertive man who knows what he's doing: Notice that he is sitting passively on his throne, smiling, but he's still got his armour on underneath his robes, ready... This says to me that he's prepared, or that he's made preparations for something. He also sits on a throne, on a cube-like platform, which to me symbolises foundations. So, he's made his preparations and laid down the foundations, possibly like you did when you began your business.
With the Thoth deck, I don't usually look at the images in the cards, but focus more on the concepts. So, I look at Crowley's concept of the Whore of Babylon (The woman riding the beast in his Lust/Strength card) and think about what that means. To Crowley, Babylon was the complete woman, the woman happy with herself, her sexuality, and all that entailed. This didn't mean she was having sex all the time with people, just that she was comfortable with her sexuality.
Adjustment, I think of as a pair of scales, which you weigh things out on... I think of baking cakes, where you need 8oz of sugar, and you pour a bit of sugar into the scales, then need to adjust it so you add more... And more... And suddenly you've put too much in, so you have to take a bit out... Until finally you've got exactly 8oz. So, to me, it's also about learning and growing through trial and error adjustments, which is definitely what this year's been about for me! :D ;)

I've been confronted with a stupid choice that is no longer a choice: I can stay with this person and pay such high price as I'm paying now, or I can throw the dice and leave this person behind and go get a life. As I was going towards the 1st choice, I'm all screwed up by now, and I can't leave just yet. Great year, I'll never forgett it.

This stupid guy called Pales standing before these 3 women, one signifying power, one signifying material wealth, and obviously Aphroditis, the Godess of love and sensual pleasure, as the third. He chooses her, of course, and ruins his kindgom. So did I. I could have gone to Europe on a grant, I could had gone back home on another grant, and decided to stay here in a job that not only I seem not to like, but also I can't receive any money for my work, while waiting for a work permit that never comes. All that to be with my man.
Can't wait until I'm old and hormones don't direct my life anymore. It will be quite freeing, supposing I can survive my own stupidity.
Alex.

My current year card is the Emperor (I'm also, according to the book I used, in an Emperor cycle, which intensifys the Emperor energy).
It has related very well to this year, especially compared to last year (which was a Hanged Man year). Last year I quit a stressful job only to be a stressed out by not knowing quite what to do with myself at home. My husband totaled his big rig the SAME DAY that I quit my job (amazingly, he was not much injured). But my husband got another truck and finances stablized, and this year I am vastly enjoying being Emperor of my domain. I've never felt so free to be myself and not care what anyone else thinks. I'm also able to spend more time helping my son navigate the world- like learning to drive (he's in a Chariot year), or picking a schedule of classes.
I don't have a primary deck, or even decks, but in the case of the Emperor card I would definately pick the Cosmic Tribe one to relate to.
Everything about the Cosmic Tribe Emperor reflects how I'm feeling. The nudity is my freedom to be myself without fear. Firmly seated on his throne but with one foot in the grass, I stay in touch with nature and find it a balm to my soul. The Sun shines at midheaven, and I feel healthy and centered.

My current year card: Lovers
This year I am very much trying to find what it really is I want to do, instead of just going on forever with a job I don't like but that pays the bills. I see a year card not just as what is happening to you, but also as some sort of advice what you have to pay attention to, so I am really deliberately trying to find what I want instead of what is the most convenient or what everyone expects of you (sometimes this can be harder than it seems !)
I don't have a primary deck, I have so many decks I like ! I took out the Swedish witch, since I think I used this decks the most this year.
In this deck the lovers are a man and a woman holding hands and looking straight ahead, what struck me on closer inspection is that the woman's eyes are turning sideways to look at the man secretly while he is just looking ahead. This could maybe mean that I am really using my eyes, trying to see what is right for me.

My current year card is the Wheel of Fortune. I take that to mean changes both initiated by me and imposed upon me. I would have to say, not even half way through (if you go birthday to birthday as I was shown), that it is a very WoF year all right. For sheer magnitude of changes, I would have to say that last year was extreme in the Change department on a personal level, but this year I am getting hit with Change on the work and family level. Some I am trying to distance myself from, because enough is enough and everything is not my responsibility. The power shifts and struggles are causing me great problems, both work and family. Trying to stay in the centre of the Wheel is my goal. Remember the one on the outer rim of the Wheel gets spun the fastest and has the most chance of being thrown off.
I almost never use Robin Wood any more, by her Wheel is a good one for emotions. But it shows why it is a good idea to have a number of decks. No one artist draws from the universal source (don't say it Diana, I hear you in my head).
Okay, to go to Marseille first for Diana's sake. The Wheel has a handle on it, so yes, I agree that you have some control. But I don't think those little demons or whatever they are, are going to let you steer the ship, or control the weather, completely.
The Fey features two of the fates, one building and one knocking down your little houses and other world structures. Phantasmagoric and Tarot d'Or feature people attached to a spinning wheel like in a circus knife-throwing act. In fact in the Phantasmagoric, there are already two knives impaled and the person looks rather alarmed. In Tarot d'Or the person has an unearthly calm and look of acceptance. Both imply the balance of skill and acceptance, versus the uncontrollable forces at work. World Spirit, Chinese, Old Path, all show the Wheel in a more mythological way suggesting impersonal forces at work, though World Spirit shows this as a natural progression. Baby/ adult/old age. But two of the figures are bound and are covering their own eyes with their arms. Nice symbolism eh? And then there is Tarot for Cats which, with a very cute picture, suggests that you reap what you sowed.

Dearest Alex
I'm sorry to disillusion you, but at 77 I can say, it doesn't happen. You just get better at adding other considerations to your decision making ... and taking cold showers as necessary.

Current card is 10, Justice.
And it has been a year of balance, responsibility, and choices.
I have been balancing my life, between things I need to do and things I want to do.
My mom died in April this year, and most of the this year so far was taken up with that, and the aftermath. My sister and I had to make choices about what we were able to do, and what we weren't. In many ways, the Justice card was perfect for the situation.
I've (we've) also been doing a lot of major projects around our house this year, and balancing the work part of our lives (job, housework, house projects) with taking time to relax and *not* work.
I've been using the Universal RWS for most of the year, and it's combination of the old and the new has been very helpful. I had been planning to take some time with the Thoth, but with everything else going on in my life this year, it felt like I needed to stay with the familiar.
The details of the card, the scale, indicating balance and fairness, the sword, which cuts through to the important things, and can cut both ways, and pointing upward toward a higher state of thought.
The marble chair with it's connection to the past and it's influence on the judgements being made, as well as the purple veil behind Justice, it's connection the card makes with the conscience, and concious decisions. The vestiments of widsom on the figure, as well as the crown with it's blue jewel in the forehead, indicating the use of the mind...all in all a very interesting card for my year.
