Man the celtic cross spread rocks I just tried one and i got some interesting answers. I'm never going back to the 3 card spread again. Of course i'm not allowed to tell anyone about what cards were in the reading because the friend i read for didnt want anyone to know about it. I'm sworn to secrecy. Man at first he just thought it was a joke so i sorta used him as a test and he was very "suprised" when I finished and no i didnt stack the deck I only do that when i can when i'm playing Magic: the gathering against my friends.

i like the celtic cross, stupid name; but it is a good spread. you can really get a good story
i dont like 3 card spreads for anything other than "yes or no" or" my cards for the day"
sometimes it is a little too much info..but then there are the 5 card spreads
all depends on the kind of question
and Umbrae has a point
it looks good ;-)

yeah, i had a really good read for myself the other day with the cc...must be something in the air.
i wouldn't totally abandon my three card spreads they're good for some things, lol.
speaking of magic and card games, i almost think one could do a reading with the magic or yu-gi-oh cards. hmm...wonder if there's a pokemon deck? lol, j/p

so you remember cardcaptor sakura? i dont know if it still on cause i dont get fox anymore
but i have a set of cardcapturs
they are pretty cool and with study you could read with them, no weirder than any theme deck or oracle deck...have to count them and see how many there are...actually it isnt my deck but i have been thinking of taking it for safe keeping from my daughter. the art is realy cool and now that she has " real " tarot cards she is being negligent with her plaything...

I used to watch that weird show, but all the cool sorcery stuff c'mon. Hey thats a good idea i could get all my yu-gi-oh cards together and see which ones make a great oracle deck lol I'll get to work on the cards and the meaning right away and i'll post in the oracle boards when i'm finished what inspiration.

I love the CC, but I dont use it on all of my readings.
Depending on the nature of the question, there are (many) other great spreads that fit better to it.
The CC is very useful to check past-present-future related questions as well as the surrounding situation...
Peace, Aun

i could swear that the creators of the yu-gi-oh cards had some knowledge of tarot...
the black magician? the emperor's decree? solemn judgement? and the advice is, like, printed on the card..."subtract all your life points but and increase your attack power by yadda, yadda, yadda."
??? yo, maybe i'm stretching here, lol.

Actually the authors dabble in egyptian magic quite a bit so they could get the story running. The original manga wasnt even about cards. In fact the cards were only supposed to show up in 2 episodes but fan response was so high the cards were included.

I'm happy you had such an excellent experience with the CC...
For me it depends on when to use it. Sometimes my instinct tells me when to use that and when to use other spreads, but it is a very usefull spread to learn

yeah, know all about the cards in the series being a fluke and all...the manga might have fallen flat on it's face with out the cards...but there are so many cards with so many different cards with influences...i still think some of them might be tarot...
didsn't notice the major arcana in .hack/sign guess i need to start watching again...
still having good results with the cc?

they dont show up in .hack//sign they're in the video game. when you kill monsters they may drop scrolls. several scrolls have names along the lines of the major arcana (eg. fool, lovers, devil, death)

I've used the CC spread for a long time and find it to be versatile for specific questions which have a complexity of factors that affect the question and querent. I've just read an excellent book that uses the CC spread and several "inovations." Tarot and Psychology by Arthur Rosengarten, Ph.D. introduces the concept of "clusters" -- special linkages between specific cards within the CC spread. There are a number of deeply discussed topics that are well written about -- card oppositional meanings (how to work with the opposite meanings inherent within each card) and a Tarot Research project in which both victims and villians within domestic abuse situations are grouped -- some cards come up within very often in these groups. This is a very rich book. The author also includes a "gift" card which he selects for the querent as a symbol of external help. Interesting. Dave.

i have read the CC in clusters for some time
it never made sense to read it from # 1 - #10 because ( in my version) # 1, 7 and 9 are all aspects of the querent, # 3, 6 and 10 are all aspects of the future, etc... and so that is how i read them...is this what you are talking about?

The CC is my favorite spread, it give me very good information when i,m reading to people that do not have any question in particular or some people that just want to test you to see what you come up with, with the CC I just go right to the point of the situation that is affecting the person i'm reading for.

TO CATTI
Yes, that is the basic idea although the author, being a psychiartrist, uses several clusters. As I noted, he also selects a "gift card" for the querent which he uses to show how an outside party or influence will bring help to the querent. The book is quite good.
TO TARADECK
The CC is indeed helpful for broad questions. I also use the Horoscope or House spread. Being a long-term astrologer I find this quite useful and incorporate "aspects" into the reading. I also like the 7 card triangle spread articulated by Juliet Sharman-Burke in her books. Dave.
