Somebody give that writer a pat on the back. No, give them a million pats on the back! The article was wonderful, and for once it didn't play up to a pre-conceived idea of what Tarot is and instead showed a very open and healthy attitude to Tarot. I loved the way it also got to the heart of what Tarot is and what Tarot does, and made it look positive: something very few newspaper articles are inclined to do when it comes to such subjects.
It was a brilliant article, and one that I hope has done the Tarot world some favours.
:D

Is it just me? Twice I tried the Toronto Star link above, and both times my computer crashed (with a message from my computer's operating system to the effect that my computer had performed an illegal operation) and I had to shut off to re-boot.

It's just you, Rusty Neon. Of course, you know how those Toronto people are... Just kidding! :)
Interesting article. It's nice that the point was made that tarot is more useful for self-discovery then "fortune-telling."

I think the writer had two things going for her (it was a woman, right?), firstly, she had Greer and Pollack to interview and their views are so balanced and non-threatening...and reasonable. Secondly, the writer didn't plant her own bias into the article, either positive or negative, she just did the reporting.

Wow that article sounded like us! So balanced and true! More people who ask for readings should understand the purpose of Tarot as being more for self-development and potential, rather than "fortune-telling" (as others have already stated here; as trouble I have with clients)
I love Greer. Pollack's book is on order...
Thanks for the link. I'm glad you got a lot out of the forum you attended.
Warmest,
Elle

Ah, I read that article too, and was pleased that it highlighted the other aspects of tarot, and not just divination. I thought it was funny they put the 3 of swords on the front page though - at least it wasn't Death!

Really good article and I'd enjoy pointing it out to my friends.
The Destiny Narration is one of the nicest ways of describing the storytelling aspect and reflective means of using a modern deck.
Best wishes and thanks again for the great link.

Remember newspapers regularly delete articles after a time, the page has an option on the bottom to print out the article without the advertising, or you can cut & paste it into a word program on your system, so you don't loose it when the paper cleans house.
