I have been reading "Pictures from the Heart" - the author emphasizes the use of Tarot imagery as a tool for self-awareness and personal development. And I never ceased to be amazed by the accuracy and the insights gained from my tarot readings. I feel like it is an open door of communication with Angels and Spirit. I find certain cards will be repeated again and again if their message is significant. I am amazed by spreads I do, cards will come up, I don't fully grasp their meaning, then a short time later, I will get a flash of insight, and it will all make perfect and beautiful sense! For example, recent 3-card reading I did, I pulled "Devil" -"Hierophant" and -"Death" ...It wasn't a majors only read, but I still got all major arcana. I didn't totally understand Hierophant, however Devil and Death, represented Issue / Situation with Advice. I was experiencing some frustration and anger over a particular situation, Death advised me some things (attitudes, beliefs) have outlived their usefulness, time to let them go. The role of the Hierophant, made sense soon after, when I received very good advice from a mentor. And then I understood how Hierophant, connected Devil and Death, because it was the communication, the bridge of my understanding of the two. !!!! a big lightbulb went on for me!
how have others experienced this kind of synchronicity?

I have been reading this book too and really getting a lot out of it.
I did a 3-card reading with the Sacred Circle deck (not my usual reading deck but i felt drawn to it last night) regarding my feelings towards my violin. I have been playing for about 11 years and used to have a very strong emotional/spiritual connection with my violin and hearing other violin music. Lately the violin doesn't speak to me and I feel sad and frustrated at not feeling what I used to feel so strongly.
I just did a past, present and future reading, was too tired to try something more adventurous.
1. past---Ace of wands---"creativity"
2. present---10 of swords---"disillusion"
3. future--4 of swords----"rest"
As I looked at the cards everything became very clear without even thinking too deeply about it. As you mentioned oceanpoetry it was like a flash of insight. I didn't even put my thoughts into words and just looked at the images and felt the past, and present and imagined a future where I am at peace with my violin instead of feeling disappointed and frustrated. I see the future as a time where I will be more connected with my violin again but in a more relaxed way. Just looking at the 4 of swords made me feel better and sure about the whole situation.
In other words I might not have the same relationship that I had in the beginning when everything was new and my feelings were powerful, but things cannot always stay the same.
I am rambling a bit, hope this makes sense, Ruby7

not only from my hands, but from the hands of another....
this reading for me, will lead you to another reading.....and see the synchronicity at work, it is beautiful.
There have been so many time that Tarot has made my laugh, cry, get motivated, move me so much in any direction that there is never any doubt when I look at the cards. I may not understand the message at the time of the reading, but that gives me something to think about & figure out......then the lightbulb
:D

Do you use spreads from this book or just pick it up for good reference? She actually lists about 11 different decks, but I'm uncertain if she is only working with twentith and twenty-first century decks. The ones I usually work with don't seem to be mentioned in her book...except for the Rider Waite (or the Universal Tarot by DeAngelis?)
Take care. Good to see this works for you.

In this book, she gives some ideas on how to create your own spread, using 1-5 cards, with some suggestions. I don't think "Pictures from the Heart" is deck specific, however many of the references are for RW-based decks. If you enjoy using Thoth and Thoth-type decks, you might not get as much out of her references.

a counseling tool. Like, I will pick a deck I'm particularly drawn to at the moment and ask it things like "How can I deal with this person's obsessive habits that affect me?" and suprisingly the cards offer excellent advice. Sometimes I feel almost guilty; I will shuffle the cards and think about someone or their particular plight and the cards will give me suggestions on how to deal with them, how to cope, etc. I am discovering I am doing this more and more. My relationship with my decks are moving to a new level/dimension. I've done few readings lately for outside querents; am doing more soul-searching of myself with them.
It is really interesting. Just had to share.
Blessings, Michelle
